This city (and Wild Birding Center) park is a wonderful place to spend time with nature, enjoying birds, butterflies, and plants. The waterway behind the Visitor Center was alive with Egrets, Cormorants, a Heron, an Osprey, and several Kingfishers who hovered above and then dove to the water while fishing (and thereby entertaining us). Nice trails to walk and explore.... More

We loved the scenic views, they were all just beautiful. Kids got to enjoy the little stream and they loved it. They were able to see clearly thru the water. While walking along the clean and clear paths they got to see bugs, leaves, flowers, and birds. They absolutely loved the tree houses they have randomly around. The walking areas have spots where you... The staff in the visitor's center is friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. As soon as you enter, you're greeted by the magical sounds of a soft, flowing natural-looking fountain and foliage. They have 2 lagoons (resacas) and a smaller one for viewing water fowl. There are walking paths with lots of plants. They have programs for schools to participate in and... More

I recently moved here and went to their free film outside one night about the monarch butterfly migration through here on their way to Mexico. I returned during the day and walked the beautiful trails and photographed numerous butterflies. Many birds migrate here during the winter. They have a beautiful visitor center also with powerful scopes.

There are several hundreds of bird and butterflies that are found in South Texas and this is one of the best places to watch them with a binoculars. In the winter months, this is an ideal place to look for a fellow Winter Texan (Canadians or fellow Americans from the north part of the United States). From mid-Spring through mid... More

We missed the entrance to the parking lot, but once we found it we were glad that we came. It was also free because it was the last Sat of the month (we didn't know that)! So many birds (waterfowls, waders and songbirds) it was fantastic! The area isnt huge there are different ponds and trails. The visitor center is... More
