Must visit place. Water reclamation plant turned into a wonderful park. Have never seen anything like it. Great bird viewing. Very friendly and helpful staff. You will not be disappointed.

One of the highlights of Edinburg. Lots of birds we don’t see back home. Plan about two hours to walk all the trails. Be sure to sure borrow the binoculars from the gift shop.

What a wonderful place. This would be a great place to start your Birding trip in RGV to familiarize yourself with local birds. And a splendid place to bird if you’re traveling with nonbirders, as they’ll find it beautiful and interesting. We visited for birding, and saw many of the Valley specialties. The gardens are planted with native species, which support local birds and butterflies and pollinators—plus they’re pretty. The landscaping is very well done, giving views of the water, quiet pathways, and some great places for preschooler pretend play. The interpretive center is a beautiful space with good exhibits. We scheduled a tour with a naturalist, who showed us birds, told us about the center, answered our questions, and named the butterflies we saw.

What a great use of resources! The Edinberg Scenic Wetlands is actually the effluent from the sewage treatment plant for the city of Edinberg. But, they have used this abundant water supply to make small lakes that birds love. There are wonderful walking paths with numerous places to sit. There are fountains and picnic tables and bird feeders for everything from hummingbirds to Chachahalacas. There is an excellent visitor center with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. There are frequent naturalist led walks. And, the price is very reasonable at $3/adult with a $25 membership that admits up to eight family members!

This is a favorite nearby nature outing. They have nice indoor areas with children’s books and coloring sheets and information for adult guests, as well as clean bathrooms. Outside there are walking paths, covered decks for bird and animal watching over the water, and a little playhouse for kids. There are also programs for kids and adults which I’ve heard good things about, though I haven’t participated personally yet.
