Must visit place. Water reclamation plant turned into a wonderful park. Have never seen anything like it. Great bird viewing. Very friendly and helpful staff. You will not be disappointed.

I was so impressed with this city park. There is a very nice visitor center with helpful staff and displays. Then there are two large lagoons (resacas) and a smaller one for viewing water fowl. There are walking paths with lots of plants (some are labeled), and a delightful water feature area. There are observation decks. We found that the lagoon on the visitor center side was much easier to access the decks than the lagoon on the other side of the road. Vegetation makes it tough to get to some of the decks on the south pond. There are native plants in a garden setting as well as scattered through the park. This is a lovely place with benches for resting and viewing nature and lots of see. Highly recommend this place. Try visiting at various times of the year because the animal life varies with the seasons. A great migratory pathway for birds.
You cannot drive in the park so park outside and enjoy the walking trails.

I was there with 2 classes, had fun...but I laugh when I think why it's called "scenic" ....unless you consider the sewage canal nearby scenic....oh and the smell too...that's pretty scenic and memorable as well lol.

It is very representative of the Valley as it used to be before the concrete was poured in. There is water everywhere and birds, water turtles, native plants and trees, really really neat place to go find a place to sit, contemplate nature. Fill your lungs and soul with peace and quiet. It is next to this huge park that has very long walking paths. Ive been there several times biking which by the way you can also do. And lets not forget the huge pond with all those frienly ducks. They let you feed the ducks! Children have a ball! Great place to take the family, to go alone to walk, think, unwind. The entry to the wetlands is around 3 dollars ( not sure) the entrance to the park is FREE. Wow, Edinburg has done it right.

This place is located just outside the city center of Edinburg. The visitor center is in a fairly new bright building with interpretative programs and a gift shop. There are two larger ponds and several smaller water features throughout the park. The walkways lead through a diversity of native plants which are explained on signs. We did not see many birds but it was close to noon which is not the best time for bird watching. Different ducks swam on the largest pond and lots of butterflies swarmed around the blooming wildflowers. We missed the bird feeders which we have seen in other parks where they are always surrounded by some birds. Nevertheless it is an interesting place and worth a visit because it is important to support the effort to keep some natural habitat for native animals. Entrance fee for adults is $ 3 and for seniors and children $ 2.

We go to Edinburg mostly for birding, but it's a wonderful outing for families as well. Nice gardens, wetlands and trails.

What a wonderful place. This would be a great place to start your Birding trip in RGV to familiarize yourself with local birds. And a splendid place to bird if you’re traveling with nonbirders, as they’ll find it beautiful and interesting.

We visited for birding, and saw many of the Valley specialties.
The gardens are planted with native species, which support local birds and butterflies and pollinators—plus they’re pretty. The landscaping is very well done, giving views of the water, quiet pathways, and some great places for preschooler pretend play.

The interpretive center is a beautiful space with good exhibits.
We scheduled a tour with a naturalist, who showed us birds, told us about the center, answered our questions, and named the butterflies we saw.

Beautiful place to observe and enjoy nature. A birder's paradise. A quiet attractive place to spend half a day or more.

This is one of those parks you need to visit. What I love most about Edinburg Scenic Wetlands is the activities they offer for the children. The are very active on their Facebook page (go "like" them). They post anything offered with all the information. This summer they have had a lot going on along with the RGV Summer Nature Challenge. The boys love coming here. There are always people coming to take photographs here because it is so beautiful.
