About
The Duchman Family Winery was founded in 2004 by Drs. Lisa and Stan Duchman in a quest to bring world-class winemaking to Central Texas and the Texas Hill Country. Their love of the unique Italian grape varieties as well as similar weather patterns to Texas inspired them to work with viticultural consultant Bobby Cox and growers in the Texas High Planes AVA to produce grapes that would allow their winemakers, Dave Reilly and Mark Penna, to experiment with making wines like Vermentino, Sangiovese, and Dolcetto. The winery continues to source the majority of its fruit from the Texas High Plains AVA, where cooler temperatures and a more “continental” climate are ideal for the production of fine wine made from Italian grape varieties. As the winery grows, the Duchmans remain committed to their goal to produce food-friendly fine wine in Central Texas using Texas-grown fruit exclusively. With an eye on the future, Duchman Family Winery continues to develop innovative winemaking and grape growing techniques in order to provide wine that truly reflects a taste of Texas for years to come.Duchman Family Winery remains one of the top wine destinations in Texas. All of the winery’s current releases can be sampled and purchased at the winery’s tasting room and the estate’s beautiful Italianate villa and grounds are open to visitors who can enjoy their wines with a picnic lunch! We have picnic tables outdoors in the shade of the oaks, or pick a cozy spot inside the winery hallway with a windowed view into the barrel room, fermentation tank, or production area for bottling and labeling of our wines.

Beautiful winery, need a reservation and they do book up. Staff is knowledgable and friendly. We were only able to reserve a tasting, the restaurant was closed due to a special event going on. The tasting is standing at a counter and you can select which wines you wish to sample.

We loved the wine-tasting experience. The winery was nice, the staff courteous and helpful, and the wines were delicious. The only complaint we had was the price of the tastings. We aren't used to paying such a huge amount for so few wines to taste.

Truth up front, we are members of the Duchman Family Wine Club. That said, it's because we love their wines. The whites and reds are great, hat tip to the Progression #3 available now, as well as the rose... both outstanding! The only negative in our view is the member pick-up events are lame. A glass of wine and a short food buffet of food that is usually average at best. In our experience attending member pick up events at Texas wineries, Duchman's events would definitely be close to last. For the price of the wine, the member pick-up events could, and should, be a lot better.

This winery is so beautiful, I could live there.

The views are breathtaking, and the main house is absolutely impressive, I was so impressed with the property I had to explore it further on my own.

They have been operating since 2004 and turned the former residence into a tasting, event and sales space. The sunroom and patio are perfect for enjoying a tasing or a bottle of wine among friends.

I actually sampled all of the wines on my visit to the vineyard, of course my preference is red, but I found many of the whites quite refreshing. Although the pool is no longer used for swimming, it makes an excellent backdrop, stop in and set a spell!
Cheers!

The wine was ok. $17 for 6 pours. You were given a set list of wines. The server was fine. We were the only ones there but she didn’t want to engage in conversation. She answered our questions, but didn’t offer up any interesting information. Kinda boring!

I was a wine member for years. The quality of their wines was good to great. It was a great place to meet for happy hour, sit outside and then go next door for a nice dinner. The last shipment I received, one of the bottles had turned to vinegar. I could never get anyone to call me back, so I dropped my membership and don't plan on going back. I would say the place is hit or miss at this point.

Girls weekend away and wow what a horrible place. My friend needs a SERVICE ANIMAL and the rude manager kicked us out. I cannot believe that someone would question a persons disability and require you to prove you're disabled. The dog has all proper certifications and just because you're not blind doesn't mean your a liar. This manager needs training in ethics, manners and the law. I will not ever come back!!!

Delicious Italian varietals. Excellent Verementino and Montepulciano. Lovely outdoor space. Unfortunately no tasting at this time only bottle purchase and appetizers.

This winery is amazing. All the wines are good. The atmosphere and customer service is amazing. Reminds me of walking into a Tuscany winery.

The big BIG plus for this place is that they are open until 9pm, where most are only open until 6 or 7. Inside and out, this is a beautiful setting.

My disappointment is the same for almost all Texas wineries. They charge for the wine tasting even if you buy a bottle or more. The prices per bottle are to high when you compare to better wine in France, Italy, South Africa etc and they do not charge for tastings when you purchase.
