Was a nice slice of history, my family and I are history buffs. We enjoyed looking at this and researching the history before and after.

Come and see this beautiful but controversial memorial to Confederate soldiers of the Civil War. Or come on Sunday to see the pickets.

This statue is on the courthouse grounds. It's still in good shape. It's part of history, whether you like it or not. Can't be erased. Shouldn't be forgotten. I understand there are protests here on a variable basis, so view as you feel comfortable.

Needs to be knocked over and burned. It is a symbol of hate for anyone with brain cells. I love living on campus but hate having to look at this “monument” everytime I decide to go to the square.

Without a doubt this is our history and we must continue to learn about our history. Lots of folks don’t agree but it happened and I appreciate the statue as a reminder. Thanks Denton for working with us. Retired Chef Gene

The Ladies in my Rebekah Lodge laid a wreath at the veterans memorial on the square next to the Confederate Memorial. I don't like the confederate things being taken down. That is part of our history.

Regardless of how you feel about the Civil War (of course it was terrible) we need to make sure that we remember what happened and not try to erase our nation's complicated history. The small Confederate Memorial doesn't really glorify the South so much as...More

I respect history and all of our fallen. But there is no need to glorify in any way this terrible war, no matter the side, but particularly the side that supported slavery.
