It’s worth the visit for a free exhibition. The signage here is not great so we had to walk around first to later find-out that you can use any of the doors. Depending which direction you came in from you may have not o navigate your way to the reception to register your name. The lady at the reception was very nice and helpful.
There are some nice collection of guns, overview of Denton, display of a wagon, some history of “vote women” etc. I definite will recommend a visit to this place.

This stunning historical courthouse crowns the Denton Square. Many have never been inside, and are missing out on seeing a Texas Treasure! If you are on the Square, go inside this stately county icon, built in 1895. It has a very educational museum that depicts days gone by. This is the 3rd courthouse in this location. Two others burned to the ground. And, founding father, John B. Denton is buried right outside of it. His tombstone states he was a lawyer, preacher and Indian fighter!

We drove here from Dallas and were very disappointed that the town was not as described in the tourist brochures. It looked pretty run-down. Whoever is against fracking should switch sides. Looked to us that Denton could use more oil money.

Our son and daughter in law just got married on the courthouse lawn. Everything was absolutely beautiful and they even provided security to make sure that the area was secure from outside people. I couldn't imagine anything better. Whether you are looking for a place to go visit some history or like my family you are looking for a place to have that perfect even. This is the place!

Right in the center of Denton square is the courthouse. Inside there are some great old pictures and history postings. Probably takes 15 minutes to see it all but good little history. Outside on weekends during spring and summer you will probably see future brides or brides having their pictures taken as it is a great setting. My daughter got married last year and we did quite a few pictures here before and after the rehersal dinner.

I have been a part of about 10 weddings on the steps, on the grounds in a court room and they all have been great. The last wedding the guest went thru the museum before the wedding started in the courtroom. The museum is just the hub for all the wonderful activities that take place around the courthouse. When visiting Denton this is a great place to include a history lesson.

The courthouse museum is full of interesting facts on the city of Denton, Texas dating back to the early 1800's. It sits right on the historic downtown square, surrounded by little shops and places to eat or just get coffee, or adult beverage. At Christmas time, the town tree is placed here along with all of the other lights and decorations, and it is just beautiful. Depending on how many shops you visit, it will only take about 11/2 hours to visit the museum.

Denton's Gem! If you've never taken the time to visit the courthouse (and I don't mean just the grounds but the inside), you are missing out on one the area's real gems.
Constantly changing rotating exhibits compliment the permanent exhibits. Well worth a visit.
A visit to the functioning County Commissioners Courtroom is another special treat. Check the Denton County website to see when the Commissioners are meeting (regular and special sessions) and plan to sit in. The courtroom is a beautiful example of old time elegance.

Didn't go in the Courthouse but it's surely beautiful. The square itself is wonderful with lots of restaurants and shopping. We were there late on a Sunday and I was pleasantly surprised the amount of places still open. Locals are friendly - we asked for recommendations for dinner. It's a music town and there are a lot of bands playing at the eateriers and quite a few music stores as well as antiques and an awesome used book store.
