The whole event was sub par. It started by herding us into a small room with no place to put your drink down while you snacked on the cheese and fruit. Prior to the beginning of the show the “actors” were rude to you. There was one bartender so the line was slow to move. The food was just average but it was the highlight of the evening. Once the show started there was very little to watch, just one guy telling you somebody was just killed. Story was weak and the clues were worthless. They planted people in the audience to pretend to be customers but were easy to spot. They gathered info on you which the “detective” would use to try to incorporate you into the show. Mostly they made off colored remarks about them and tried to embarrass them. I’ve been to two shows by Texas Star and they are much more enjoyable.

First time we’ve ever gone to a murder mystery party, so wasn’t sure what to expect. If you’re not a bit of a ham and really get into it, you may not have that much fun. Make up an outrageous name and cover story and throw everybody off to make it a truly excellent experience. As far as the staff and actors in the audience go, no complaints. The actors were somewhat difficult to detect until their turn was up and figuring out the mystery required some good logical thinking and ability to put 2 and 2 together. You MUST interact and mingle with people to get the full effect. The only negative thing I can say was that the food was out and out disgusting. 🤢 I couldn’t even eat what they handed to us. Also, there should have been at least two bartenders. I would still recommend this to people, just maybe bring your own dinner with you.

You're definitely right that the best times are had when folks lean in and join the mystery madness. Thanks for leading by example! It sounds like you had a great time mingling with new friends and actors alike. Sorry to hear the food was not to your taste, but we're glad you still had a fun experience overall. We hope you'll join us again some time to help solve another case.
Thank you,

Last weekend my family and I went to the murder mystery dinner show and was so disappointed with the dinner served for the price we paid. The total with tax and tip is $63 per person. (I see why they make you pay the tip ahead of time, because you will not want to leave one on the table). That does not include a drink from the bar. Drinks ranges from $8-$12. The murder mystery and participation was fun and entertaining. It was the meal that was not worth the price at all! We were served Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and steamed vegetables. It was served cold, tasted like cardboard and the gravy tasted like it came out of a can. No one at our table finished our meal. It has to be the worst meal we had dining out. The servers really had no idea what they were doing either. No one server was assigned to a table. So they jumped around and forgot to come back to our table to finish serving the dinner plates or the desserts. The dinner roll plates got picked up before the rolls even made it to the table. Just a confused mess. The entertainment was worth the time out but the price and what you get for $63. (Drink not included) is not worth it at all. Very disappointing. I will not recommend this to anyone.

Adunbar, while it's wonderful we had the chance to welcome you and your family to a night of mystery, we're sorry to hear you weren't fully impressed. Your disappointment is our disappointment. Since we truly want to be an evening of unforgettable entertainment and delicious dishes for all of our guests. It sounds like you simply caught us on an off night, but that's certainly not an excuse. Hopefully, we'll get the chance to welcome you all back for a completely wonderful experience.
The mystery awaits,

Keith and Margo Murder Mystery - These are low end events that are not planned well and overpriced. They expect the customer to create the entertainment for the other guests. It is one thing to participate, but another to be the entertainment.

AVOID: Actors Disrespect Audience, Weak Script, No Plot
Keith and Margo’s Murder Mystery also known as Murder Mystery Texas basically bombed and brutalized their audience. Throughout the night, the few actors performing for such a large crowd failed to engage their audience, declined any meaningful dialogue, and were disrespectful of the people who paid to watch them perform.
1. Two middle age women were asked by actors to dance together and then “Twirk” (shake their rear ends).
2. When they decline one man offered to jitterbug with one of the ladies. Afterward, one of the actors (policeman) referred to the man as a gay.
3. When the actor journalist and movie director actor were asked questions by our table, both actors refused to and declined to engage our table.
Script was weak and lacked any true storyline. The motive was very apparent why the victims were killed. The story line is that a movie director is blackmailed by gossip columnist. He hired two killers before he completes the job himself. However, the script NEVER provides any clues WHO committed the murder. The actual killer was on briefly introduced to the audience and had no lines. The murderer did not stop by our table to interact.
Clues were simple distractions. Why the organizers claim they provide “Clues”, all planted clues are simply worthless and not part of the story line. The “clues” consist of a deck of playing cards with celebrities on them and threatening statements on the card such as “you are next”. Again, the clues never pointed towards the actual murderer or advanced the storyline. Despite their own announcement that false clues would be removed, the organizers did not remove false clues. The best examples were when a condom and a furniture splinter were placed on the clue table. The false clues remained on the table for the duration of the performance and not disclaimed by the organizer.
Party organizer failed at basic information and management.
1. Only one restaurant’s waiter was provided to check the entire audience in and take our tickets, not the party organizer. Most organizers provide several people to check in guests at the start to get the crowd in quickly.
Results were a long slow moving line of guest that could not enter the room promptly.
2. The location of the coat rack was never announced. We had to find it on our own.
3. Menu was not released to us even after purchasing tickets. Special diet requests were not honored.
4. The “information sheets” only tell us to suspect anyone and everyone. It reminded me of the 1950s Joe McCarthy era. When I left table for restroom, I returned to find my table guest going through my coat and questioning my why I had my Sunday church bulletin in my coat (as if that would be a clue). Guests were accusing each other rather the weak aloof actors provided by the organizer. Good crowd management and information minimizes these incidents and allow the audience to focus in real suspects.
5. No name tags table name table places for guests were provided. Our table ended up writing out a seating chart names so we could converse with each other. Without name badges, strangers did not interact well.
6. No suggested dress code was provided other than “casual”. Cocktail dresses and tuxes were mixed in with Hawaiian shirts and shorts. If the organizer would provide a theme, dressing for this event would allow more fun.
7. Overall, the organizers are not amateurs, but experienced organizers of murder mysteries. However, they choose to decline basic host steps in order to provide an entertaining guest experience. Other event organizers I encountered have incorporated these points in their murder mysteries.
Overall, I paid $75.00 to see a horrible play with no real acting, no real clues, no storyline, and actors who cat called names to audience members. I would compare these actors to rude stand-up comedians in a comedy club insulting guests more than actually performing a murder mystery. Please consider attending a more professional murder mystery business than this Dallas franchise. I took a first date here on 6/20/15. Never done one of these before nor had my date. It was a blast.
Pros- Hilarious. Interactive. Everyone was involved. We were entertained from start to finish. I thought the actors did a good job. We had one of the main characters sitting at our table pretending to be a guest. He was great. Would do again for sure.
Cons- I would have rated this 5 stars except for one thing. The food was horrible. Supposed chicken fried steak. It seem like it was microwaved. Powerded mash potates. It was plain awful. We heard the same thing from everyone one else.
They have only one bartneder for 70 people or so. It took us 20 mins in line to get a drink.
I will go again. I just know in advance I want eat the food.
Also, a lady at our table brought her 10 year old son. Not a good idea. The kid was awesome, but this has some adult content and did make us a bit uncomfortable for him.
I do feel with the food being so horrible they should not charge as much for the whole thing. The drinks are very pricey to.

Three of us seniors marked this off our bucket list. It was our first time and we can’t wait to go again. When you sign in, you get a name tag. You can use your name or make one up. I wad Lulu LaRue, my friend was Bubbles and the other was Layla. We got a glass of wine and did the meet & greet. We told them we were the original Hooters girls. At 75 that was a hoot. It was fun trying to find clues and solving the murder. The only downside was the area. We took Lyft so we were dropped off at the door.

Rating it a C-. Confusing presentation, disjointed. Way longer than it should have been. C- rating on the food (+cash bar). Wouldn't return or recommend to friends.
