There were two Pegasus signs. One new and bright on a building roof. The other an original neon sign sitting like a flag post in Downtown Dallas. It was old. The light blue faded. The neon red wasn’t lit. No Unicorn in cotton candy clouds or raining of Skittles or anything. I was excited to go there. That fizzled real quick. But I wasn’t impressed after seeing it. I ended up saying, “Meh”.

The flying horse was the corporate symbol of the Magnolia Petroleum Company and was rebuilt in 2000 and reattached to the old Magnolia Petroleum company's office building that is now the Magnolia Hotel with lots of restoration of the building to its former glory. The sign is illuminated at night but is somewhat difficult to see now that there are so many buildings are taller and partially obscure the sign.

Right on the corner of the OMNI Dallas hotel at 555 S Lamar. They always have holiday or seasonal displays adjacent to it. As mentioned by another viewer it is a great photo opportunity. Well worth looking at.

An interesting sign in the centre of the downtown. It looks over the city, has a nostalgic feel which is great. Short walk from most downtown buildings.

Because everything is bigger in Texas, Dallas proudly flies TWO Red Horses: the rebuilt/restored original installed outside the OMNI Dallas Hotel in 2015, and the “new” Pegasus atop the Magnolia Hotel installed in 2000. The new replaced the rusty 1934 original atop the city’s then tallest building and first skyscraper, the Magnolia Building. The rotating red porcelain and neon Pegasus remained the highest point in the Dallas skyline for years. I wasn’t born here, but I quickly learned that the city is oddly nostalgic about this icon from years gone by. It’s because of those enduring stories that a labor of love began in 2011 to find the original Pegasus and bring it back to its glory days. Make sure you see both to experience quintessential Dallas. For a great view, head to Reunion Tower’s observation GeO-Deck!

If you have ever driven in from the South and seen her red glow you know your home. She has welcomed me home my whole life and always brings a smile to my face.

The Pegasus sign was built in 1934 and sat on top of Magnolia Building(now the Magnolia hotel) for the Magnolia Oil Company. Sitting at 450 feet, it was said it could be seen by pilots as far away as Waco. The refurbished original now sits in front of the Dallas Omni hotel, but how fitting it is that another Pegasus sign now sits back atop of the Magnolia hotel. A great piece of American history.

It Isn’t as big as it seems in the picture but it was nice to see the Pegasus in person. This wasn’t part of my plan but I’m actually glad to had bumped into it.

Easiest spot to photograph the iconic Dallas Pegasus sign (this is the restored original). The replica sign, located atop another hotel, can be seen in the skyline but is difficult to photograph due to obstructing buildings. Pioneer Plaza is just down the street from here...

Pegasus Sign is such a pleasant memory. Everyone that grew up seeing it should take the young members of their family there to share stories and reminisce. Truly enjoyable.
