The Meadows Museum's permanent collection of Spanish art is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world, containing works from the 10th through the 21st centuries by such masters as Dalí, Velázquez, Goya, Miró and Picasso. Its holdings also include a significant collection of 20th-century sculpture, much of it on display in its outdoor plaza.

The museum is located on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. There is a parking garage and, if you take your parking ticket with you, they will validate the parking when you pay your admission. There is a sculpture garden outside which can be visited without charge. Admission to the museum is paid on the first floor. I paid $6 admission for the museum. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is some art and the gift shop on the first floor. Most of the art exhibits are on the second floor.

Went for the Goya exhibit, it was good with some very famous pieces on loan from a British collection. But there are many other Spanish works in the permanent collection. Sarollo, Degas, a few Dali’s and Picasso pieces. Your regular collection of spooky old Medieval church art, but some nice impressionist and modern pieces from many places worth a visit if you are in Dallas.

The Meadows Museum is off the beaten path, so to speak, and is not located in the Arts District in Dallas. It's actually part of SMU! Although small in size, the museum houses some absolutely lovely Spanish pieces, including works by Velazquez and Murillo. Has to be on your go-to list if you love art!

If you do not know about this small museum on the SMU campus, you are missing a gem, especially with the latest exhibit which blew me away.
Sorolla and America is an exhibit of Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida's (1863-1923) work. He was a Spanish artist who painted light-filled landscapes and sophisticated portraits. Over 150 works explore the artist's relationship with early 20th century America, examining his immense popularity, as well as his associations with contemporaries and collectors.

This is a rather small museum on the SMU campus. It contains a beautiful collection of primarily Spanish art. It also has a small sculpture garden. The museum itself is beautiful, as is all the art work. When we visited only the permanent collection was on display, but they frequently have visiting exhibits as well. It is a great place to spend an hour or so. It was very peaceful and not at all crowded. There is a dedicated parking garage for the museum so it is very easy to get in and out of.

The collection at the Meadows is extensive and the current exhibition of modern Spanish works is not to be missed! We were so fortunate to have a remarkably knowledgeable docent guiding us...a personable gentleman who regaled us with anecdotes as well as imparting insights into the collection.

I was very happy to have the opportunity to visit this Museum, even though I would have loved if it would have been bigger. It is situated on the beautiful SMU campus and there is parking available. I was very happy to find a book of Alice in Wonderland with Salvador Dali's illustrations, at the museum's store. It is a must in this Museum City.

The Meadows is a small, but good art museum. We enjoyed a very well curated exhibit on Texas art. The museum is free but special exhibits have a fee.

My husband and I spent the afternoon last Saturday at the Meadows Museum. We were looking for a small museum that wouldn't be too hard on us. (we are both retired with mobility restrictions). We live in Dallas but had never been to the Meadows. We are so glad we found it. The collection is outstanding. Focusing on Spanish Art, covering several centuries. We have been to many of the large famous museums over our years, seen masterpieces. I will say that I was overwhelmed with the selection of pieces in this small museum. We were there on a Saturday afternoon. Our cost was only $5.00pp and the parking garage, just under the building was free.
Added bonus, on a day when it was 100 degrees outside, this building was very cool.

We had heard that admission was free to the Alba collection between October 31 - November 1. I love Spanish art collections, having see so many beautiful exhibits in Madrid and Barcelona that this seemed to be a dream come true. In my wildest dreams I never envisioned such a wonderful experience. The staff were very helpful in giving directions. Just call them ahead of time for hours and info. BTW, it is free to seniors every Thursday evening after 5 PM. Underground parking is free with museum admission.
Now, lets get down to the real business at hand, this magnificent exhibit! It takes up the whole second floor of the museum. The signage is most helpful, but the docents are even more incredible! I won't spoil all the wonderful things they shared other than to say you must ask about "The Pearl" and Christopher Columbus! These docents were well schooled in every detail of this huge exhibit. I have never seen such a magnificent show outside of the major museums of Europe. I have not included photos as it is strictly verboten to take any inside the museum. Although I am saddened by these rules, I understand that they must be enforced to ensure the integrity of all the wonderful objets d'art that have been loaned by the Alba family. Please know that this exhibit is much, much more than paintings!
