This historic cemetery is located in the same area as the Pioneer Plaza. It is well kept and clean. The history is just amazing and I really felt honored to be there. The location is very easy to get to with ample street parking and lots right in walking distance. Food is in walking distance as well. The Dallas Convention Center is also in the same area. There are many grave markers that explain the person that I found very interesting and I appreciated that it was provided. Along with a remarkable old cemetery is the Confederate Monument that was pretty cool to see. Take the time to read about the cemetery before you go so you get a better idea of it's true value. I had read that in 1891 vandals smashed 35 headstones. Although there are missing headstones and many broken ones, there is still plenty that are there that are readable. Just brings on the feeling of a very old cemetery. Several sculptures are simply beautiful. Don't miss this historic cemetery! Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

After stumbling on the cattle drive sculpture, we kept on in that direction and came across this old cemetary. Very sad to see how young people passed at that time, but great history. So glad we kept going.

It's no surprise that a Cemetery in a downtown park is trampled and unsightly. The battle between protection and access is won by access here. Grave stones are knocked over. Grounds are trampled dirt. Signs are bent. It's unsightly and a little embarrassing for Dallas.

Still, the historic significance of the people interred here is interesting and worth a visit from a historic perspective. Otherwise, don't visit unless you are checking out other downtown attractions. If you have some free time in Dallas, check TripAdvisor, make a top ten list of things to do and get hopping. The Cemetery is free and near the Cattle Drive Sculpture.

Parking is very limited and can be expensive. The DART system is excellent and costs only $5 for a full day, but the nearest station is many blocks away.

I can't speak from experience, but this park may be a little shady after dark. Use your best judgement.

Pioneer Park cemetery is near the convention center in central Dallas, TX. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and watch for fire ants. As you walk around the area you can read the headstones of the first Dallas families. The cattle drive monument is close by and gives you a close up of life in the pioneer days.

Interesting Walk back through the early settlers of Dallas along with a Confederate Monument. In the Spring and Fall this would be a nice walk. In the Summer, this was much too hot with little shade.

The cemetery is quite interesting with several plaques sited on historically poignant graves. One thing that I did notice was that there seemed to be an awful lot of Freemasons buried here and some of the stone work is of a very good standard, nothing untoward just something I noticed. This also includes the Confederate War Memorial.

This was our second option to seeing a longhorn. It worked out perfect we also got the chance to act out running with the Bulls without getting trampled. The photo opportunity is amazing. The cattle crossing is amazing and free.

We stumbled on this Cemetery while at Pioneer Plaza looking at the Cattle Drive Sculptures. It's sad that a lot of the markers have fallen over and aren't legible to read. A lot of history in this cemetery with the ones you can read.
