This center consists of 3 venues. One is the Winspear Opera House where we saw "Anything Goes" played by the Roundabout Theatre Company. The building is beautiful. I don't know how covienent the upper levels are but from orchestra seating drinks, snacks and rest rooms are easily accessable. If you associate opera with formal clothing, you’ll be surprised that the dress code is far more relaxed than you might expect. Business attire is fine and a fair number of people wear jeans, mingling with those in evening gowns. You can dress in casual clothing but don’t have a relaxed attitude when it comes to arrival time. Get there late and you’ll have to watch the opera or other musical performances on a closed-circuit television in the lobby. There are no exceptions to this rule – so plan accordingly! The small extra charge for valet parking is worthwhile because escalators take you directly into the lobby. The center is located close to the downtown Arts District.

In town for the weekend from Atlanta, visited this venue for the first time to enjoy Michael Jackson's Cirque du Soleil. The venue was really clean and had a great small feel which is not typical of the "everything's bigger in Texas". I really enjoyed it. But be aware of a few bad seating choices when at a stage event like this. The back sides like section 116 117 will leave you turning your head to the side the whole event. Try to find a seat with a direct forward view.

This site is locally referred to as the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts & is the central place in downtown Dallas for cultural activities that range from opera, ballet, musical, & dramatic events. This area is huge & includes the Winspear Opera House, including both opera & ballet, the Wyly Theater (which consists of the Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Black Dance Theater, & Martinez Ballet Folklorico). In addition, the Stausse Square, an outdoor performance area with lawn seating that can accommodate 2500 visitors, & the 10 acre urban Sammons Park! The city should be proud to have planned & developed this urban achievement for the residents of Dallas. Any visitor to Dallas should include at least a walk-through of this impressive collection of urban architectural designs & sample the current attractions. Parking is not a problem with easy access to underground or street-sites. The area around the Center is well maintained & policed.

I went to the Prom show on 7/31. Just perfect.
But I also booked the pre show dinner on the mezzanine. Compared to our first dinner there 2 month ago , it was really disappointing. They changed the catering company . Only one appetizer, the vegetables were too salty, the chicken and salmon were OK at best. The dessert was good though. Not worth the money. They don't sell the wine by the bottle but by the (plastic) glass. We took the regular red and it was simply undrinkable, So never again, there are other options in walking distance anyway.

The Winspear Opera Theater is unquestionably a magnificent example of modern architecture that serves the purpose of a public venue for ballet & related performance events. The exterior design is impressive, so unusual as to make for interesting discussion among visitors. The interior lobby has a coordinated symmetry with the exterior design. The seating is comfortable. Color combinations seem rather dull to my taste. Plenty of restrooms, all very clean with modern design. Only two small elevators to underground parking. Merits for attempts to landscape the large outdoor patio. Also, plus marks for plenty of outdoor seating. You will not regret at least one trip to this site. My personal reservation about this & many other Dallas public developments is the feeling of always being surrounded by mostly concrete or artificially created backgrounds. Perhaps this is an unavoidable by-product of urban settings in which "cultural centers" are more or less transplanted into an already concrete jungle as contrasted to having been the natural centerpiece of a land area before all the development started, similar to the Trinity River Park area in Fort Worth or Central Park in New York. But, having said that, you have to give Big D an A for effort!

Was so excited to see Gypsy Kings. Venue is outside which I first thought was a great use of space. External stage and lawn downtown. Seating was supposed to open at 730pm for inspection of totes (BYOB). It was about 750pm when the line started to move. Staff inside watching people spread blankets and making folks crowd together since event was sold out. Tickets listed start time as 830pm. GK didn't take the stage till shortly after 9pm. They played for an hour...sixty minutes. Then staff telling folks to hurry and leave. For this, we payed $150.00+ for parking and lawn tickets to hear sixty minutes. Never, ever again and I don't care who is playing there...what a rip off....caveat emptor!

This venue is actually very nice. We saw Beauty and Beast which was awesome.
Parking: the Lexus Red Lot was very convenient. It was $15 and literally sits below the theater and you take escalators up to the venue. It was easy in and out except for the obvious lines that form during exit.
The Venue: It was very clean. Seats were stadium seating with plenty of room (I'm 6'1") and had leg room. On the upper decks, there's enough of a difference in height between rows that kids can see over even tall people. The bottom rows do have the bar in front and my wife (5'2") said she would have had problems probably looking over it. There are restrooms on each floor but the men's restroom had one stall and two urinals for a lot of people. There was a loooooong line to the women's restroom even at the 5 minute call during intermission.
What I did not like: Try to get as close to center as you can. There's no price difference if you are center on a row or in the wings. However, there is a considerable obstructed view of the stage the further you go to the sides. Most theaters discount these tickets for that reason but this one for this show did not. We were probably about a third of the way from center and missed about 15-20% of the stage.
Overall... it's a nice venue with some quirks.

This is a gorgeous facility. From the walk up outside to your seat indoors, it is built to impress. This is a first class entertainment complex. You want to get dressed up and go to this venue. Every seat at the Winspear is good one and the sound is excellent.

So disappointed with ATT Performing Arts Center. We had been there before with great results, but for the Gypsy Kings, they let everyone from the back come up front and take over the entire area where we all paid for seats. We were completely trampled and run off from our seats.
When we asked for help, they moved us out to the side behind a column and when we couldn't see we finally left.
When we contacted them after, they blamed it on the band, took no responsibility and basically told us we should expect that at their outdoor events. As a make good, they offered tickets to another event - of their choosing! They also couldn't guarantee we'd even be able to see the stage for the event they wanted to give us tickets too.
When I wrote back, including many of their senior executives there, NO ONE responded or even cared.
We did not take their tickets.
I can only say that if there is an outdoor event there, DON'T GO. They said they can't guarantee that you'll be able to see the stage or that you'll get what you paid for.
Any business that doesn't give you what you paid or adequately make things good when they mess up, does not deserve anyone to give them more business.

This is one of the finest theaters in the world. The place is worth a visit even if you don't see a performance. I usually splurge on good seats, but I think the acoustics would be good anywhere. The thing that amazes me is how efficiently designed the parking garage is. Even when the theatre is packed, we are out of there in less than ten minutes.
