About
The Santa Fe Trail is a 4.5 mile long paved path on the East side of Dallas. The 12 foot wide path connects White Rock Lake on the Northeast side of the trail to historic Deep Ellum and Fair Park on the Southwest side of the trail. The trail runs through some of the most historically significant neighborhoods in East Dallas and touches 4 local parks along the way. There are water fountains, benches to take a rest, a bike repair station and incredible views to be found along this trail. If you are looking for a place to walk, jog, or bike, but wanting to avoid the congestion of other Dallas area trails, the Santa Fe Trail is for you. Come experience a more laid-back East Dallas attitude.

A nice trail

A pretty nice trail that seems to be improving and expanding over time. It connects to White Rock Lake and, last time I rode it, went all the way down to the Fair Park area. One park has a long incline which is nice if you climb first and coast last.

Urban Rails to Trails path in East Dallas
Mar 2017 • Solo
I use this trail a ton! Great connector for White Rock Lake and Deep Ellum. Love it as a medium for exercise as well as safe trail to travel and enjoy beautiful Dallas weather and walk to area restaurants and entertainment. You can see bicyclists, runners, walkers, commuters...just about every age uses this trail. Nice rest stop at Eagles Nest under Grand Ave. This is a real city gem in the heart of East Dallas, great for locals and tourists alike! You can even rent a bike at Local Hub to enjoy the trail! A must see!!!

Best urban trail in Dallas
Feb 2017 • Solo
I ride this trail a few times a week and it's one of the best urban trails in Dallas. The trail starts in Deep Ellum and connects to other trails that can be taken all the way to Richardson. Even getting in a shorter ride is great, and there's a restaurant called The Lot right off the trail if you want to enjoy a beverage or grab something to eat.

Great walking/jogging/cycling trail in the heart of East Dallas
Feb 2017 • Friends
The Santa Fe Trail is one of the best kept "secrets" in all of the Dallas park system. The trail connects White Rock Lake with Fair Park and Deep Ellum. At about 4.5 miles long, this paved trail is 12 feet wide and has plenty of space to take a leisurely stroll/bike and plenty of open stretches for the more serious cyclist/jogger. The trail is rarely very crowded, as most people tend to congregate around White Rock Lake or the Katy Trail. You can stop by The Lot restaurant (access right off the trail) or any number of bars/restaurants in Deep Ellum for a cold beverage and a bite to eat. This is truly one of Dallas' best kept secrets.
