Family Fun Time

Good park to see nature along the Guadalupe Rive. We love to bring the family and spend the whole day. There are a few picnic tables, walking trails, bat house, and lots of shade along the riverbank.

Small park with wonderful bird watching
Jan 2020
My mom and I went here on a Sunday morning. We were the only ones there. It's not a large park, but what terrific birding! On a recent January morning, there were dozens of bluebirds, a couple of Carolina chickadees, a ladderback woodpecker, a meadow lark, a shrike, cardinals, and more. Dogs are allowed on leash.

We drove about 20 minutes to get to the park. We had to look a couple of times to realize this was a park. It's on the river but in the middle of nowhere. We saw one couple down on the bank and a dead rattlesnake floating near shore. It was a waste of time.

Peaceful, beautiful...and BATS!
Jul 2019 • Friends
Even if you only have a few minutes to stop by the park, it's worth it. The view from the observation deck is gorgeous. We didn't get to see any bats (it was daytime) but it's nice to know kids can learn about bats just by being there.

A Little bit of Paradise
Jun 2019 • Friends
What a beautiful park my sister and found. We sat at the picnic tables and enjoyed the birds, the calm , and even got visited by an armadillo. Truly amazing spot in the Hill Country. Comfort is a great town, but what is around there is out of this world beautiful.

Our all-time favie place for a short walk along the beautiful Guadalupe River.

We try to get over here several times a year. It's beautiful, well groomed, and serene. It's just a small park but well maintained along portions of the old railway. It's an access place for kayakers and tubers along the river with lots of cypress trees. It does justice to James Kiehl, an army man who gave his "all" to his country.

A Walk In The Quiet
Aug 2018 • Friends
This lovely park in memory James Kiehl is a wonderful fine in Comfort. Though the walk is short maybe a mile or so it runs along the Guadalupe and then up and around. a meadow where there are several birding opportunities as well.

Perfect swim
Jun 2018 • Family
Local, peaceful and beautiful Hill Country park. Steep walk to river from parking lot but totally worth it. Hidden gem as we found locals who go here often. Perfect shallow shade spots for small children ro play in the river and other deeper and sunny areas to float/play for older children & adults.

Peaceful Park

A lovely, quiet park with a beautiful memorial to a local hero who gave his life for our country. Beautiful, so quiet it hurt my ears! Trails, access to river.

An out of the way quiet park...
Aug 2017 • Family
The gem of this park is the access to the Guadalupe River. The park has nice trails and is a good spot to watch bats come and go in the early evening just after sunset. We enjoyed taking our grandsons to the park and they tried to raise the level of the river throwing several what seemed like hundreds of rocks.
