My mom and I went here on a Sunday morning. We were the only ones there. It's not a large park, but what terrific birding! On a recent January morning, there were dozens of bluebirds, a couple of Carolina chickadees, a ladderback woodpecker, a meadow lark, a shrike, cardinals, and more. Dogs are allowed on leash.

Good park to see nature along the Guadalupe Rive. We love to bring the family and spend the whole day. There are a few picnic tables, walking trails, bat house, and lots of shade along the riverbank.

A serene 25-acre natural area named in memory of Army Spc. James M. Kiehl from Comfort, Texas. This park has grassland, woodland, and riparian habitats with about 1,600 feet of Guadalupe River frontage. A memorial pecan grove features a monument to James Kiehl and Kendall County servicemen and women, a sign that tells James' story, and benches and picnic tables. This area is ADA approved. 1.5 miles of trails and over 500 feet of historic San Antonio and Aransas Pass rail bed run through the park . A bluebird trail and chimney towers provide homes for birds and are interesting structures to see. Birders especially enjoy this park - brush piles called 'critter condos' attract many species. Birding groups regularly have walks in this park. James Kiehl River Bend Park is peaceful place to spend some time in the country.

I drove there with two of my granddaughters, as we were getting out of my car, in an empty parking lot, a pick up pulled up right next to us, the man got out and started taking pictures of us. I rushed my two granddaughters back into my car and drove off. Why he parked that close, when the whole place was empty was weird, but then to start taking photos?? Will not go back unless I am with a larger group.

We dropped by this pretty park for a morning - thanks to TA reviewers! My wife and I were heading to check out Comfort, and it was good to spend some time in this local park. There was ample parking and plenty of information boards to find out about the flora and fauna. The leaf cutter ants were in abundance. We strolled down to the river, heeding the advice about staying within the park's boundaries. The views up and down river were very impressive. It would be a great place for a picnic. There are no permanent restrooms - perhaps these will appear in the future.

Very well kept secret of comfort. Probably shouldn't be reviewing it, but it deserves the recognition. Always a great time and park is kept very clean. Nothing better than the good ol Texas hill country and it's rivers. Thankyou to the men and women who protect this beautiful country.

Well done park. Nice walks and lovely river front. The gentle sloped gravel edge makes it easy to put your feet in the water. A peaceful place to spend a couple of hours

We drove about 20 minutes to get to the park. We had to look a couple of times to realize this was a park. It's on the river but in the middle of nowhere. We saw one couple down on the bank and a dead rattlesnake floating near shore. It was a waste of time.

What a beautiful park my sister and found. We sat at the picnic tables and enjoyed the birds, the calm , and even got visited by an armadillo. Truly amazing spot in the Hill Country. Comfort is a great town, but what is around there is out of this world beautiful.

Local, peaceful and beautiful Hill Country park. Steep walk to river from parking lot but totally worth it. Hidden gem as we found locals who go here often. Perfect shallow shade spots for small children ro play in the river and other deeper and sunny areas to float/play for older children & adults.
