Friendly welcoming staff at a lovely local pub
Jul 2020
We visited this lovely pub a number of times during our week’s trip to Kent. The landlady was really chatty and friendly and welcomed us on every occasion (even giving us a round on the house!!) the locals were also really welcoming. Nice garden area, book case & really good observation of Covid restrictions

Friendly pub

Great pub for socialising. Very lively weekends with a DJ or live music on a Friday night and occasional saturday. Live Sports available in one bar and juke box and seating in the other bar. Lovely garden with plenty of tables. Food available before 9pm. Landlady/ landlord and staff are very welcoming as are the locals. Children and dog friendly. Overall a great village pub!

Went in after an altercation in my usual pub.
This place is superb from the amazing landlady and landlord to the excellent staff, Paige, Natalie and Kerry through to the friendly customers. Been made to feel very welcome by everybody in the pub wether staff or customers, looking forward to visiting again.

Local village pub

Shepherd Neame owned local pub.
They do pizzas,from around £7-11.
We only stopped for a drink, friendly staff, not very busy, but nice beer garden, and sensible priced drinks.

Called today for lunch, but advised by the landlady that the only thing she could offer on the menu was Pizza ! ! ; best to avoid unless you like frozen pizza.

This poor pub, has had so many owners, it has just been taken over again and is spotlessly clean, have eaten here twice now and had lovely pub grub both times, good value for money, fingers crossed it continues like this
Well done!

had dinner at this local pub all three nights while staying nearby-walking distance along the lane. they had a large selection of choices & were yummy. this is a local pub owned by the people of the village-very popular with the locals, had great atmosphere-would certainly recommend

Terrible...and we didn't even get to eat the food!

Seen the pub in a local news letter, and it said a full menu available on Saturday evenings. My boyfriends mum had seen it and said she would like to try it, so I decided to book it for Saturday evening. This was the night before mothers day, as we couldn't do the meal on Sunday. Checked on Trip Advisor and all was looking good. I rang up on the Tuesday, and after 4 times unsuccessful, the lady said we we're booked in. Thought it odd at the time that they didn't take my number but thought they must have caller ID and thought nothing of it.

Saturday evening, we turn up and when going into the pub we were surprised for the wrong reasons. Other than two males were at the bar drinking, we looked around and the pub and it was empty. The males said to us that "he was out side having a fag" and that he'd be back in shortly. When he finally come in, the one who I assume owns the pub, was dressed in a scruffy dirty fleece with an attitude to match.

He proceeded to look us up and down and said reluctantly "Can I help you?" to which we said we had a table booked at 6. He then put his hands on his head and said "No unfortunately you don't as we don't actually have a chef on Saturday's" he then proceeded to tell us that the lady who made the booking shouldn't have done but didn't take a number to ring us about it.

There was NO apology! Not that we would expect it but there was NO offer of a complimentary drink as we had made the effort to come, NO effort to make it up to us on another day. We were all shocked to the hilt. We were looking at each other as to thinking it was an April Fool's joke. He looked at us as if to stay, well why are you still here. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIED that they are false advertising in the Aldington post to say they offer a full menu on Saturday evening's when this isn't true at all! Emailed Shepherd Neame of who this pub is a tenant of, and they were just as terrible at customer service!! Must be a Shepherd Neame wide customer service policy.

Our family has had another occasion where a table has been booked by another party but then cancelled the day before because the "chef wasn't turning up tomorrow". Seem's like a regular occurrence and one to which I will not risk for a third time!

Can't comment on the food, our visit was 5 minutes long, we weren't even offered a packet of peanuts!
