This was a fun stop! I love roadside quirky photo ops. This was a super cool find as we were traveling through Canyon right about dark. There was a convenient parking area and there are lights shining on Tex which illumine the statue, allowing for night pictures. Interesting story and nice to see he still stands tall today. Definitely would stop by and see this if you are passing through, very worth a quick stop. It's Free!…

If you like quirky history, I would rate this a 4 stars (of 5). In any case, it is worth 10-15 minutes of your time if in the area. I have been in/out of Canyon all my 64 year life but just visited this interesting bit of history/art just a year ago in 2019.

If you're nearby I would definitely swing over and see Tex! I wouldn't say it's worth over an hour drive or anything because it takes less than 5 minutes to see him and snap a pic or two. We were staying in Canyon near the state park so he was a hop skip and a jump away. He's HUGE!! And he has a pretty neat story too.…
