Shelters are by lake. Roomy shelter. No pets allowed in shelters, like at all state parks. Shelters spaced close together like all state parks, but not too close. They have a volleyball court. Great hiking and views. Good hiking trail at the end of the shelter turnaround.

Stayed in park with a Rv. Clean shower house and hot water. They have 2areas for Rv 1tents and cabins. Nice park for hiking or biking.

We stayed in cabin 11 and the view of the lake was beautiful. I would much rather stay here than in a hotel in brownwood when we visit our daughter at HPU.

Just got back from a weekend trip to Lake Brownwood State Park. We were looking for a state park where we could fish and that had decent cabins to rent. I checked out all of the state parks online and then called the reservations line to reserve a Saturday - Monday stay at Lake Brownwood SP. The park itself is... More

I have lived in Brownwood for 4 years and this state park is honestly just boring. If you have to get out to a state park in pinch, it will do but once your there the swimming is terrible and the hiking paths are overgrown and just not that pretty. If you have the option go about an hour and... More

Had a good time. Very open area, where we stayed. Clean, private showers and restrooms. Our site was electric and water only. Fishing close by via a pier and well appointed cleaning station as well. A bit away from the main town but well worth it. Quiet and away from traffic. Staff good. Enjoy.

Did a quick one night tent camp stay. It was the perfect getaway with the family. The campgrounds were clean. All the sites were conveniently located near the water. The Lake itself seemed back to normal levels. The fish were biting! So much so, that my kids have gotten the fishing fever. They are dying to go back again. The... More

It's too small to call it a park, more of just a boat ramp. There's nothing really here to see. I'd say rent a boat if there were any here for rent.

We visited this state park a couple of months ago. We stayed here for three nights in our travel trailer. We thoroughly enjoyed this park. The lake is beautiful and was completely full when we visited. The RV sites were well maintained and offered full hook ups. This is a larger park with several areas. We enjoyed hiking, fishing, and... More

We recently stayed in the Council Bluff area of Lake Brownwood State Park in our RV (Airstream). We were there during the week (Tues-Thurs) and it was quiet and clean. Of the 20 sites there were at most 4-5 occupied. The rest rooms and showers were clean. Nice views down to Lake Brownwood below the bluff. Watch out for tiny... More
