This place is still there, but it is not open to the public. It was fun for many years, though. Come see the old fort at Brackettville. It's still open.

Alamo Village is fun to visit. So many movies have been filmed here. The John Wayne museum has some great mementos. Walking around the Alamo is surreal. You can see where Davy Crockett stood on the wall to play his fiddle. There’s also the place...More

Tried to visit, and found that this place has been closed for many years. This listing needs to be removed. Article in San Antonio, TX newspaper showed pictures of how Alamo Village is closed and is falling apart.

We heard the place was closed, but we went to look anyway. Yep, closed up a while back. It's on the way to Kackapoo Caverns State Park, which was awesome, remote and beautiful.

Fort is closed at this time but I know they do tours from time to time. I also heard that someone from Houston was wanting to buy it and open it up. Hope they do.

It's sad that the The Alamo Village Movie has run down so much would love to see someone take it and preserve the set for History and John Wayne's sake

Planning a trip to San Antonio in October and surprised to see that John Wayne's Alamo and movie set has been closed. Read that both the husband and wife that kept the site open have both passed away and now the family is not sure...More
