We stayed at the cottages with 16 of our closest friends, played 3 days of golf and were treated outstanding by Bobby, his wife Julie and the rest of the staff. Course is a bit rough in spots but the effort bringing it back is coming along nicely. Hole #15 is one of the most picturesque par 3’s anywhere.

We did a group weekend golf outing to Colovista. 8 couples in the group. We stayed in the cottages which was great to be on the course and able to have our own rooms but still be together. The golf was a lot of fun and a very good challenge with 9 holes of “links” like holes and 9 holes of more wooded and hilly holes. Bobby the owner seemed to be ever present and intent on making sure we had fun. Highly recommended.

ColoVista Golf Club near Bastrop, Texas, was closed following the huge fire than engulfed much of the area. The course is in excellent condition and the current owners are taking great pride in offering their guests the best in Central Texas golf.
The club house has refreshments for purchase and the course offers overnight lodging in resort cabins.

My husband and I stayed at Colovista Cottages and played golf at Colovista Golf Course over the Memorial weekend, based on a recommendation from a friend in Houston.
To be honest we weren't sure what to expect, but the cottages were clean and comfortable with great views over 2nd hole, and we ended up playing 3 times during our stay. Some of the holes are quite challenging and my mission is to land a ball on the green at the 15th hole, at some time in the future.
The golf course was closed for a while and Bobby Brown and his staff have been working hard to get the course back to it's old glory. It is definitely a hidden gem (overused term I know) and the views from some of the holes are spectacular. The patio area out the back of the club house also has great views and a lovely breeze. A fantastic place to enjoy a cool drink after a round of golf.
The only downside is the fact that the restaurant is closed, and there currently isn't an alternative for food on site. Hopefully this will be rectified soon.
We certainly enjoyed our trip and will be back again soon.

Stopped in Bastrop on the way back from Austin to play Sunday morning with my son. We arrived well in advance of our 9:00 tee time and were told to tee off whenever we wanted. We hit range balls and arrived at the first tee box at about 8:50 to see three foursomes waiting to tee off in front of us. There was no starter to control who was supposed to tee off, and there was nobody on the course to keep play moving. We finally teed off around 9:30 but had to wait on almost every hole. We finally gave up after number 12. Course was pretty good for the price but definitely not worth the wait or the drive.

I apologize your round felt slow. Sunday morning is typically a pretty busy time for us here at the course. Especially the weekend you played, as we were running a special that had the tee sheet completely full. There was a course marshal on duty out there to keep the pace and our logs indicate we were slightly behind our average pace due to how busy we were. Since you played as a twosome, that always feels even more slow as you are at the mercy of all of the foursomes that were ahead of you. Please reach out to the manager at the course and we would love to have you back to the course at a time that better suits the pace you would like to play at so you can see how wonderful of a golf course we truly have. There are plenty of times available when our regulars get a round in in about 3 hours playing as a twosome. I hope the wonderful fall weather gives you the opportunity to make plenty more pars and birdies before winter arrives!

It was nearing the time to start looking for a home for this years course membership. I had played several other beautiful courses in consideration of this effort.
Some I found that I might consider more refined and frankly at times better groomed. But after taking it all into account, where we were just last year and were we are now.
I simply found myself to excited at what has been going on at the Colo-Vista.
It simply makes me proud to have witnessed the benefits that proper management and a caring staff have contributed to the improvement of the grounds and facilities in such a short time.
This coupled with being made to feel at home in the already relaxed setting left me know reservations when I decided to sign on for another year.
HATS OFF TO YOU GUYS THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS.

Conditions at this course continue to improve! It's been a few months since I was here and most of the bunkers have been redone and the few remaining are in process, I was surprised to see they have new golf carts too. Definitely worth the 45 min drive from Austin - you really feel like you are getting away from it all out here. Kudos to Billy Casper Golf for bringing this course back after the fires.

It's always a treat to play here
we were so sorry when it closed down a few years ago, then the wildfires prolonged the agony, but the community pulled together and now it's open again! Billy Caspar Golf manage the course
hands down the best golf-course in the area for quality of play and value for money
it gets better and better every time we play there - the greens are phenomenal
they have great 'stay & play' packages which make it a great option - especially for when our out of town company comes to visit

This course is recovering from almost 5 years closed. It is making an AMAZING come back!! The greens are new, fast & true. Fareways are healing wonderfully! Best course for your dollar, which is not bad!!! Check out the "stay & play"!!!! Cottages AND golf!!! What more could you ask for?!?

WE just had our daughter's wedding last weekend at the Mansion at ColoVista. It was beyond our wildest dreams. It was a one stop all inclusive Venue which included the wedding coordinator, rehearsal dinner, bridal brunch, the wedding, and a reception for 250 people, all at the Mansion. Our guest enjoyed staying at the 22 room cottages and golfing on site. Our guest also loved dining/shopping in downtown Bastrop as well. Working with Bastrop's local wedding vendors were very easy and accommodating. Thank you to the staff and vendors for making this an incredible wedding that we will remember.

We are planning a weekend trip . We were looking at the Colovista Cottages. Are they real dated? Or would we be better at a hotel?
Thank you
