The trail is fairly easy, but is 4.8 miles to the top. Just take your time and have a pack for your drinks and snacks.

This is a trail with a gradual incline in a deeply forested area. There's nothing wrong with the trail, it's well marked and well cared for, but it's so heavily forested I missed having wide open vistas to view. I guess I should have stuck it out to the top, but I made it halfway and turned around. It just wasn't my can of corn, I guess.

Very nice trail run. Usually not many people on the trail. People know to get over if they hear a runner or bicycle. Some parts are really narrow but that's the fun of it. The top is awesome. What a view of all the mountains and towns.

This hike is very popular with hikers, runners and bikers. It's a nice soft path with wild life (birds, chipmunks, snakes, deer and seldom a bear) and beautiful plants (love eating the blackberries along the way). At the top you can climb the tower and see at 3 counties: Unicoi, Elizabethton and Washington.

Great trailhead, although I'm sure parking is at a premium on weekends. Spectacular views. I biked to the top and back, climbing the observation platform while at the top. There are a few sections of trail that are too steep and are showing early signs of erosion damage. These will need attention before they get out of hand. My source of local knowledge said to bike it weekdays, as weekends get heavy hiker use. Even on my midweek morning it was getting a bit busy before I got all the way back down. Overall a great experience and I'm eager to return.
