We travelled the Skyway in July. It's a nice drive with plenty of overlooks and beautiful scenery. But because of all the leaves on the trees, it's sometimes hard to see the view. Near the top of the mountain, it's robed in clouds a lot...More
If you would like to see the true beauty of East Tennessee, then take a drive on the skyway at any time of the year. Fall is particularly beautiful when the leaves are in full color. During the winter many folks drive up to sled...More
The Cherohala Skyway is one of the best motorcycle rides in the country. It climbs from 900 feet elevation in Tellico Plains to over 5400 feet at the summit then drops to 2000 feet in Robbinsville. There are constant wide sweeping turns along the entire...More
many people travel to Deals Gap to ride 11 miles of the tail of the dragon which in my opinion, is overrated.however, if you do go for that particular ride do not miss out on the Cherohala skyway ! entire loop is approx 144 miles...More

I was up there two days ago (Oct 19) and the colors were beautiful. The leaves appeared to be in the early stages with still a lot of green remaining. The sun was bright which really made the colors pop. Everything here is dry. Wind and rain can change things quickly but I suspect the color should still be nice the first week of November. You could also call the Monroe Country, Tn. tourism office and inquire. They are located in Tellico Plains at the foot of the Cherohala. Hope this helps! Have fun and check out Tellico Grains Bakery as you go through.
