Dont let the size of the building fool you, this museum is full of history and very nicely laid out. The displays tell the stories of what you are seeing and not just some generic labels. A couple of items are eyebrow raising because one is a first in the US. The fee is very affordable. Nice museum and great staff.

This place is great! Lots of exhibits on display. The things found in and along the Tennessee River are amazing. The lady at the desk was super helpful and wicked nice.
Tip: visit Shiloh NMP first, we got a coupon for free entry into the museum.
Big dirt parking lot behind the museum for RVs.

I think this is great preparation for going to the Shiloh Battlefield, to get some background on the area and its significance in the Civil War. There are exhibits concerning pre-war times, and post-war times as well. The information about the types of weaponry used during the war, and the information about the boats used in the war, was especially interesting. I highly recommend it.

Museum proved to be much better than I expected from a small, local museum. Lots of history around this large river and they pretty much cover it all, from "mound-makers" through the riverboat era up to the civil war. Very close to Shiloh National Park battlefield so you can get a "boatload" of history the same day. Nice exhibits with a lot of authentic civil war ordinance. Really should stop in, only takes about 75-80 minutes.

I brought my daughter to this hotel after exploring at Shiloh. She was really excited to see the mock archeological dig she saw a picture while were at Shiloh and thought that it was the coolest thing she ever saw. It is small and to the point. I like that about some museums. You get the maximum information without all the fuss and bother of some larger museums. The fee to get in was reasonable only $3 which to my mind is really below reasonable. They have a lot of information about the Tennessee River and the surrounding area. My daughter had a good time talking to me through the whisper tubes(not sure what they're really called) in the paddle wheel boat display.
Being in downtown Savannah, it was easily accessible from pretty much everywhere. Would definitely keep my eyes on this little place to see what they do or add in the future.

This little museum is packed with indian artifacts, civil war items and other items relevant to the area from long times past. Very interesting.

We had a very enjoyable visit to the Tennessee River Museum. The curator is a wealth of information. The exhibits were extraordinary. I've never seen so many arrow heads in such good condition. There is a $3 charge per person unless you visited the Shiloh National Park. Then there is no charge, but do make a donation. Convenient parking right out front.

The Tennessee River Museum has a much better Civil War exhibit than Shiloh. Outstanding Indian artifact collection.

I LOVE small museums where you can spend an hour or two, broaden your knowledge of the area and not be rushed and not get tired. This fits the bill. Staff is courteous and helpful. We had a special treat as they had several decorated Christmas trees.

Nice, well kept little museum, lots of local items of interest, lots of fossils. A bit of a evolution dogma to the place, millions and billions of years on many of the historical notes. Nice Riverboat display, some great old pictures.
