We went to "A Haunting at Rocky Mount," which was a guided night tour featuring little chilling story/skits at a few spots pertaining to the history. It was perfect for Halloween. The staff was knowledgeable and entertaining. The stories weren't too scary for a child but the interactive bits (slamming doors, rattling knobs, gunshots) would be better suited to older kids lets say 8 and up. It's a really interesting site with lots of different historical artifacts. I'll be back in the daylight to check it out!

We had a group of six that attended the first annual "Haunting on the Mount". Everyone had a terrific time and really enjoyed the staff interaction. If this activity takes place again next year we will defiantly go back.

I am very much a history buff. I visit a lot of historic sites and museums. This was definitely one of the better experiences I have had. With major group trips that were planned canceled, I now just try to find places to visit for day trips about once a month. I came across this place while looking on-line for where I could go for this month. I had actually never heard of it. Everything about it was really first-class. The grounds are well-maintained. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They do guided tours of the museum and main buildings. I had registered for that. I recommend it. Although "Piney Flats, TN" sounds like it would in the middle of nowhere, the site is actually not very far off the interstate so it is not hard to get to.

My wife and I enjoy the experience of time travel through interaction with well studied actors playing the role of persons living hundreds of years ago. The four women we encountered at Rocky Mount were well versed in their roles as they answered each and every question we presented.
