We visited the Island twice during our stay. Once during the day and again at night to watch the fountain which is the focal point of the Island. It was nice to have free parking as almost everywhere in Gatlinburg your paying twenty dollars to park. lots of shops selling many different items. We liked the bluegrass band that would play in front of The old Smoky Moonshine store and would draw a crowd every time they would play. The one issue we found was the tram system that would pick you up and drop you off in the parking lot at tram stops. They would over load them and at one point the driver drove right passed our stop and we ended up back where we got on and had to walk back to our vehicle anyway. Other than that it is a must visit area and has something for everyone.

We went on weekdays and it was slammed busy each day and time we went (afternoon/evening). Cool stuff to look at a few amusement rides for kids. If you plan on eating there I would suggest going about an hour in advance just to check in because wait times were that long every time we went.

Visited in Dec 2022 with our family. It was super busy and packed with people! Better dates would be after the Christmas and new year celebration unless that is why you are going.
There’s some great restaurants there but the wait was at 2 hours for seating if you were early bird for all restaurants there.
Our kids enjoyed the ropes which was about $40 total for them to climb. The stores were nice and at the time we were there, there was live music and seating. There is a hotel at the island but not sure how enjoyable it is with so many people.
Walking around the island was fun.
Parking is busy and typically full.
If you don’t stay at the vital on premises but want to go to the island stay at the homes 2 suites across from it and walk to the island.
My suggestion would be for the island to copy Disney world and make some more side walks for families.
It seemed dangerous with all the cars trying to park and people crossing from one side to another.

There are so many things that you can do at the Island. Many shops have a military discount, which is great. For the kids, there is a $35 ride pass for many of the rides there and the next day is free (2-day pass). For adults there is the moon shine tasting with your $5 fee for tasting actually going towards a future purchase, as you get a $5 off coupon and can use 2 coupons in a single purchase. They also have a military discount and most evenings there is live music just outside. If you like puzzles, there is a store that is just for you. Parking is free and there is a tram to pick you up and drop you off when you are done.

We went there when crowds were light and the weather was perfect. Early May 2022. We had fun strolling around in and out all the shops and of course an evening ride on the Ferris wheel, beautiful views, lot's of fun. We personally like to avoid crowds and we did on this trip. Parking is free and they even have a trolley from the parking area to the park itself, but if you don't want to wait for it (we didn't wait) the walk is not far at all and a bit scenic too. Note: as with any amusement area things can add up quickly money wise so be aware. On a good note: there is not only free parking, but no 'admission' fee to gain access onto the Island, that's good! We stopped for some pizza/ wings/ Margaretta's and a calzone at the 'Mellow Mushroom' eatery. Food was good, drinks were good and if you keep the cup your 2nd alcoholic beverage is half price. Another tip, be aware of opening and closing times whatever you do in this area, trust me on this, just check ahead of time. We do highly recommend a day at this place (The Island) and remember there is so much more to do in this area to have fun, be entertained, shop and eat!

Both the Island and the city of Pigeon Forge need to take some of the millions of tourists dollars they bring in and improve their cellular availability networks. For being a tourist destination and not being able to get a signal in 99% of the city or The Island is in my opinion a way for them to slap you in the face. Give us your money while we charge you 3 to 4 times a decent price BUT DON’T expect anything in return.

The Day we visited in Late Oct was very chilly so not many people. Lots of shops to explore. Keep in mind it is an outdoor area and distance from parking lot is a good walk.
Not sure I would enjoy it if super packed with people but would be a great location for a family to go and something for everyone.

Nice, clean area to walk around and enjoy shopping, ice cream and a few rides. The Island is not a vast outdoor area, yet nice for an evening stroll. There are very few restaurants if you're looking for a sit down dinner. Not a wide variety shopping, but still numerous stores that were interesting. Kid rides will cost you $5 or more.
Perhaps the best part of The Island is the fountain at the center with lighting and bluegrass music off to the side. Plenty of seating surrounding the fountain, but on a Saturday evening around 8pm it was full.
If you're looking for more interesting shops and dining, I would recommend downtown Gatlinburg.

If you’ve been to Downtown Disney or City Walk at Universal, The Island will feel very familiar. Very crowded and overpriced with the same types of stores and chain restaurants you would find at other similar tourist locations. On the plus side, as an outdoor shopping and dining complex, it’s set up well for walking and parking is free. If you’re looking for a bit of sensory overload and a way to spend the money you saved after a day of hiking in the Smokies, this place will do the trick.

The Island has such a neat vibe!!!! A nice variety of stores and restaurants. The fountain show was unique to watch. Ole Smoky Moonshine has live bands which you can sit on oversized rockers to listen to them. Definitely go in the evening when the place is lit up - it is beautiful! Parking is Free, Admission is Free - - it's just a cool place to go spend some time at!

I saw reviews talking about a free tram from the parking lot to The Island. Is the parking itself free, though? Thanks!

At the Island in Pigeon Forge, we always offer free parking and admission. There is a complimentary tram owned and operated by The City of Pigeon Forge that runs during business hours.

I was told that animals cannot ride the tram from parking and it’s a mile walk. My husband has a transport chair and can ride the tram . Is there anyway around that we can also ride(me and small dog) with my husband and his transport chair? Thanks

Hi, Jenny!
We do have a complimentary shuttle service from the parking lot to the entrance of The Island that's run by the City of Pigeon Forge. We have a handicapped lot close to the entrance as well that is a short walk into The Island. Leashed dogs are welcome on property!

Parking in the lot between the island and Leconte Center is usually your best option it may be a long walk if you have to park far out but usually worth it not to have to drive around
How much are the bracelets for the rides

View their website at The Island Pigeon Forge as it has a lot of info
The prices for each ride vary and can be seen by clicking on the individual rides here. Individual tickets range from $4 to $14. However, the best way to enjoy all we have to offer is to invest in a 48-hour unlimited rides pass. With this, you are even able to split your time up between two days – all for one convenient package and price. The pass is $30, or $40 if you’d like to add a one-time admission to The Island Ropes Course.

If we plan to buy the unlimited rides tickets for our kids, browse a few shops, & maybe eat lunch at a restaurant, about how long should we expect to spend here? Is it an all-day thing, half-day, etc? Thanks.

We were there for an evening. Our 4 year old granddaughter rode several rides and played some arcade games. We all rode the ferris wheel and ate at Paula Deen's restaurant. We had time to do some moonshine tasting and sit and relax at Yee Haw Brewery. I would say half a day would be plenty of time to spend at the Island. Enjoy!
Taking a family group 20+, is there only one entry where we can all meet? If not, where is a good place to meet up?
