My brother in law and I just got back from a bear hunting trip with Rocky Top Outfitters. We booked this trip a few months ago and were really looking forward to it. Greg, the owner, seemed nice and knowledgeable on the phone. They wanted us to arrive the night before to show us the where the blind was up front so we could find it the next morning. We were unable to arrive that early so we met Michael (a helper, who was nice enough) on Saturday morning and he showed us the blind. We had planned for an all day sit on Saturday and Sunday as Greg said that is how you have the best luck. The blinds were nice and large, but after the sun came up we realized we could only see maybe 50 yards in every direction. We also noticed that there was no sign of a well used trail by bear or deer. We did see a little turkey sign. I agree with many other reviews on here that it was a waste of time. There was NOTHING and I mean nothing on the small property to bring any kind of animal in. No food source, water, cover nothing. I hunted the "lower trail" and my brother in law hunted the "upper trail." There was a third blind that was 20 yards away from where you park. After a couple of hours of hunting we realized we were only 75-100 yards away from each other. We couldn't see one another due to the lower trail blind being in a bit of a ravine. I wouldn't recommend going on a bear or deer hunt with these guys. We sat there all day on Saturday 6:30am-6 pm and 6:30-11:30 on Sunday and we knew about 3 hours into the hunt we weren't going to see anything. It was a large waste of time and big disappointment to us.

I went last year to hunt bear and had a great experience. I did not get a shot at a bear but heard bears. Guide Greg did a good job. There were multiple areas to hunt and I hunted 2 different stands on the two days I was there. I returned this year and chose to hunt both days out of the first stand I hunted last year. Again, Greg did a wonderful job having the place ready to hunt. Unfortunately the weather was heavy rain the whole time and I only saw a couple of deer instead of bear. There is a reason they call it the Smokey Mountains. Still Beautiful area, well maintained blinds, Greg did exactly what he said he would do.I found Greg to be ethical, experienced, professional. I do not believe he would tolerate any unethical hunting practices. (I saw the other reviews and I find them hard to believe based on 2 years of personal experience). I purchased the exact same weekend for next year, making it 3 years in a row with Rocky Top. Beautiful property!

I've been hunting over 30 years but had never hunted the Smokies. Greg did a wonderful job setting me up in a blind that had lots of game action. I took a 212 lb buck on the first day. I was immensely impressed with the knowledge possessed and work Greg put in to make this hunt a success. I rebooked for next year.

I booked a 3 day bear hunt for my son. The web site talks about 1000 acres of hunting, guided hunts, whitetail deer hunting if the bear hunting didn’t work out... the reality is 30 acres and 1 stand for bear hunting, deer hunting is not in season, and the “guide” wanted to put his trash in my sons vehicle hoping to attract a bear! Do NOT waste your time or money going to this place.
