First timer here, and I’m not gonna lie, at 62 years old with a sore hip, I was plenty nervous and scared about going. My fear factor started to diminish when we called the office with some concerns about my ability to actually handle the trip, the lady we spoke with put me at ease, and was very gracious. The person who checked us in the next day, remembered our phone conversation, and I’m so sorry I don’t remember her name, but she was funny and gracious with us and everyone else that was checking in. Nice clean shop, well stocked with all kinds of gear for rafting needs, including reasonably priced rafting footwear. After check-in, the guides herded all of us cats to a shaded place to give us clear instructions, and gave us our gear which was clean, and in good repair. We all hopped on a school bus( it’s been a long time) and once again the guides engaged us checking in with our various levels of experience, and introducing us to our rafting guide for the day. On the ride to our destination, we could see the river, and some of the rapids too. At that point, my fear factor returned, but once we got off the bus, and met our rafting companions, our fabulous guide Farmer, helped put me at ease, emphasizing our safety as a priority, and giving me the newbie just enough extra help and support without taking anything away from supporting the rest of our group. Once on the water, Farmer was very clear, and descriptive about what’s coming up, and what we need to focus on to carry on. He pulled us together as a team, and this really is a team effort. With a combination of humor, encouragement and real talk about the the level of teamwork required for getting through the next set of rapids, his knowledge of each rock, river bend, and all the rapids, was incredible. As was the whole trip. Dynamic, exhilarating, funny, and yes, sometimes scary, this was truly an experience of a lifetime made possible by Farmer’s expertise, and our rafting companions. Once we got back to the home base the food at the cafe’ that’s there looked really good, but we were too full from the yummy lunch that was provided as part of our trip. But they do sell beer, which really hit the spot after all that fun. Big thank you to the whole Quest team, and huge respect and appreciation to Farmer, and all the guides who truly put our lives in their hands, while guiding us through an experience of a lifetime. We’ll be back next year!!!
