About
The George Jones is a world-class entertainment venue located in downtown Nashville honoring country music icon George Jones. The recently-renovated 4-story, 46,000 square foot building features live country music, a smokehouse BBQ restaurant, rooftop bar, a museum, a gift shop and private event space. George Jones had more country songs in the top 40 of the Billboard chart than any artist in history. "When people ask me who my favorite country singer is, I say, 'You mean besides George Jones?'" That's what Johnny Cash, and millions of others, have said about "The Possum," who gets the Music City shrine he rightly deserves with the George Jones Museum. The country music icon made the world cry with "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and made the world hiccup with "White Lightning." The New York Times calls the museum a "lovingly curated shrine" that is just like George's music: "a deep trove of raw feeling, triumph, tragedy, humor, hokiness and eccentricity." We had a late lunch there. Our table overlooked the river. The burgers and Fried Green tomatoes were very good. The singer was enjoyable and you were still able to carry on a conversation without shouting while he was singing.

Came here to see the Billy Ray Cirus concert. There were so many people, but it was a huge patio and everyone, even the people at the back could see. It was a cool vibe, but the weather was scorching and everyone was dripping wet.

My wife and I were in Nashville for a little over four days and ended up here four times. Excellent service, good food and really good music pretty well sums up the entire experience. The great music as you walk by draws you in and the excellent service and food keeps you there and brings you back.

Went for diner with a large group. Service was decent; the bbq was good and flavorful with several nice options. There was live music throughout the meal but we were able to have a conversation (though it was loud). Randomly picked this place with no idea who George Jones was, I’ll be honest!

Thanks for the candid review, DAEsmae! Happy you had an enjoyable time (even if you aren't familiar with George Jones! - be sure to look him up - he's a country pillar!) :) Let us know if you have any feedback on how we could have ranked higher for you. We are always looking for ways to improve for our guests! Thank you again!

I was in Nashville at time hockey game. so Broadway was packed and found this off main area. Great BBQ food, good selection of beers with good music. I added the George Jones museum tour to my visit which is on the second floor. Was well worth the visit.

I loved this place! We had lunch, which was delicious, and received a discount for the museum admission. Spent a little over an hour in the museum and bought some cool GJ souvenirs. Checked out the rooftop bar for a drink. It is large, clean and has a perfect view.

$9.00 for a half shot of Jack Daniels served in a plastic eye rinse cup!!! Yes, it was a half shot. I know how much is in a shot and this was a half shot. The plastic shot cup just put the experience over the top!
Won't ever put a foot into this place again.

We stopped in for a drink and decided to visit the museum. With our AAA discount it was $10 ea. Probably the best $10 I spent the whole trip. This museum is very well done with many absolutely unique and personal items. Hand written notes, telegrams, pictures. It covers a great deal of his life including before he was famous, his service to our country, his parents, etc. The famous "lawn mower" is there! Along with video clips and sound bites from great moments in his life you will see some tough, heartbreaking memories. If you are a George Jones fan you shouldn't pass this by. If you aren't you will gain a new appreciation for his contribution to the industry.

There are parking lots on a lot of the side streets off of Broadway. Not too expensive!
Written July 7, 2019
Is there parking? If so, what is the cost?

Has anyone ever gone here for the New Years eve celebration? Is there seating?
Written November 14, 2018
We where there this past August, sorry I have no idea about New Year's Eve. Maybe contact the bar itself.

Is the discount admission for one person or a discount for every family member?
Written April 9, 2018
I did not visit the museum, only the restaurant and bar area.

There is no onsite parking but there are several parking garages within walking distance. There is a website called "Park It! Downtown" that shows all available downtown parking. Uber and Lyft are also great services we recommend for front door drop off service.

How do I get to talk to a live person at George Jones. All your mailboxes are full, so I can't leave a message or ask questions.
Very very frustrating.

Jill C,
Thanks for your response regarding rooftop seating at the venue for CMA.
You said it would be posted on facebook, any other way to communicate the info to me?
I am not a face-booker.
Thanks!

We have always watched a portion of cma fest from the rooftop bar. My question, what time does the line begin to form in the morning to get those amazing seats at the "wall" during cms fest to veiw the riverfront stadium?

Hi Deborah,
We're actually in the process of finalizing our plans for CMA Fest right now & may be doing things a little differently than we've done the past couple of years. We'll make an announcement on Facebook as soon as we finalize details. Stay tuned!
