About
The George Jones is a world-class entertainment venue located in downtown Nashville honoring country music icon George Jones. The recently-renovated 4-story, 46,000 square foot building features live country music, a smokehouse BBQ restaurant, rooftop bar, a museum, a gift shop and private event space. George Jones had more country songs in the top 40 of the Billboard chart than any artist in history. "When people ask me who my favorite country singer is, I say, 'You mean besides George Jones?'" That's what Johnny Cash, and millions of others, have said about "The Possum," who gets the Music City shrine he rightly deserves with the George Jones Museum. The country music icon made the world cry with "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and made the world hiccup with "White Lightning." The New York Times calls the museum a "lovingly curated shrine" that is just like George's music: "a deep trove of raw feeling, triumph, tragedy, humor, hokiness and eccentricity." We had dinner at The George Jones and got a table overlooking the river which was enjoyable. The appetizers and dinner was really good. We ordered the nacho plate with pulled chicken and pretzel bites. Then for dinner we had the hot chicken dinner which was nice that they asked if you wanted it mild, med or hot. Afterwards we went up to the rooftop bar and it was a great view of the city and river. Both in the restaurant there was live music. Didn't have a problem making reservations that was short notice and when we arrived about 15 minutes early they could still immediately seat us. Would go back again if ever in the area.

I visit the George Jones restaurant nearly every time I go downtown! It has wonderful laid back country music so I can talk to my friends and still listen to music at a good volume, which is hard to say for most of the other live music venues downtown. I have had many of their items but the smoked pork and chicken Rocky top sandwich is amazing! They also have really good portobello mushroom sandwiches for vegetarians/vegans. They have an amazing rooftop view of the Nissan stadium and Cumberland River. When they have music on the roof, it is the absolute best place downtown. I also really enjoyed their George Jones museum, which is discounted when you eat there. It is not too expensive and has tons of memorabilia.

Wow! Thanks so much for the kind words KateWood1! Wanted to note for your readers, that we also have a Gluten Free menu, upon request. Also - don't be discouraged about the rooftop in winter - we are covered and cozy! Thank you again so much for taking the time to leave information for guests! Hope to see you soon!

We had a late lunch there. Our table overlooked the river. The burgers and Fried Green tomatoes were very good. The singer was enjoyable and you were still able to carry on a conversation without shouting while he was singing.

My wife and I had an early dinner on 27-Dec-2019 and enjoyed the place so much we went there again for dinner the next night before Opry at the Ryman! Much more laid back atmosphere than many of the other eating/drinking places around. Food was simple but very good. Wall of TVs if you want sports. Barbecue brisket and pork sandwiches were great. Live music was provided by solo guitar/singer both nights. Could play any song you want, as expected. Sit in the back of the room if you want a little quieter location to talk and eat while the music is playing. We would definitely go back.

Came here to see the Billy Ray Cirus concert. There were so many people, but it was a huge patio and everyone, even the people at the back could see. It was a cool vibe, but the weather was scorching and everyone was dripping wet.
Concert was incredible

My wife and I were in Nashville for a little over four days and ended up here four times. Excellent service, good food and really good music pretty well sums up the entire experience. The great music as you walk by draws you in and the excellent service and food keeps you there and brings you back.

Went for diner with a large group. Service was decent; the bbq was good and flavorful with several nice options. There was live music throughout the meal but we were able to have a conversation (though it was loud). Randomly picked this place with no idea who George Jones was, I’ll be honest!

I was in Nashville at time hockey game. so Broadway was packed and found this off main area. Great BBQ food, good selection of beers with good music. I added the George Jones museum tour to my visit which is on the second floor. Was well worth the visit.
