This museum has so many instruments that my head is still processing all of the timeless pieces. The appreciation shown for session musicians is apparent immediately upon reading all of the information associated with the "places" like muscle shoals, capitol records, and Motown. On top of all this I had the great pleasure of speaking with the founders daughter who only made the experience that much better with her sweet demeanor and amazing stories. It's a real pleasure to meet people like Britt who are willing to share the amazing stories she inherited from her father (a man that went through great lengths to help preserve and memorialize timeless music history). Saying I recommend this place would be an understatement, I absolutely suggest you go at least twice to really take it all in.

The Musicians Hall of Fame is is an interesting follow to visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame as it covers Country but also all other genres of music. A bit smaller in scale it has interesting exhibits.
Music fans should make a visit. Plan on 2 to 3 hours depending on how many songs you want to listen to on Juke Boxes.

Wow we really enjoyed this museum and it is one I would recommend even for children as the interactive displays are excellent and will entertain them while the parents enjoy the displays. We are not musician but are music fans and found this place very interesting. I would allow 2-3 hours for a visit.

This is a truly excellent exhibition of musical talent often overlooked i.e the producers, engineers, backing musicians, writers and backing vocalists. It is only a 15 - 20 minute walk up from Broadway and I think because it isn’t central they are not getting the visitor numbers they deserve. Compared to the small and packed Jonny Cash Museum and the larger but still very busy Country Music Hall of Fame Museum, the Musicians Hall of Fame wasn’t busy at all. It was a delight to go round. There is a really good interactive section where you can sing on stage, produce a record, engineer a record or even get a drum lesson from Ringo Starr. I loved it even though I’m not particularly musical. This is a MUST SEE if you are visiting Nashville.

This was a great museum, enjoyed it much more than the stuffy, fussy, we're going to call the national guard if you try and bring a water into the museum, Country Music Hall of Fame. Numerous interactive displays and focused on session musicians and instrumentalists. Great place to really learn about the musicians who have made music and Nashville happen, as opposed to looking at Taylor Swift's 4th of July outfit over at the Country Music Hall of Fame.

A museum covering all genres mostly rock and roll with a touch of country and soul. Enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. Lots of exhibits on display from instruments and recording equipment to stage costumes.

It was super cold when we were visiting, so it was nice to find something inside to do. The museum was not crowded at all and we felt like we had the place to ourselves at time. My girl loved the interactive area! She thrashed the guitars, mashed the drums and even took a drum lesson from Ringo Starr! He was very complimentary too!
Highly recommend!

All the stars of country, blues, rock etc are well served by museums in Tennessee, but this focuses on the 'lesser known' people that made music history happen - musicians, producers etc. Each exhibit is well presented with accompanying information and you'll be surprised how many hits some of the individual musicians were on without any label credit. Well worth the time to visit this museum in a city of museums! Put towards the top of your list!

This self-guided tour was wonderful. We spent about 2 1/2 hrs there and got a real education not only about the musical stars we all know and love but almost more importantly, about the not-so-famous musicians behind the songs. It makes one realize there is so much more that goes on behind the scenes and the incredible talent that truly makes the music we love what it is.

Visited with my wife, brother, niece and 96 year old mother. We all enjoyed it. Lots of exhibits with memorabilia, tracks, videos, and interesting background stories. We've seen all the major museums in over 20 trips to Nashville and this was one of the highlights.

We already have tickets to Country Hall of Fane and Studio B tour. Should we be sure to go to this museum ,too? I am not sure if it is too similar to Country Hall of Fame
Written February 13, 2020
Lots of interaction and it's about the people behind the singer's. I thought it was better than the country hall of fame. Please don't miss it

Is the Johnny cash museum part of the same complex or a separate museum.?
Written April 20, 2019
As everyone said, it is separate. We did JC museum the day before and it was very good but a little pricey for what you get unless you are a fan. If you aren't a HUGE JC fan you can get enough on him at the Musician's Hall of Fame-which, btw, was DEFINITELY worth the time and money!

Where is a good place to stay to see the outside musical groups and other touristy things in Nashville.

We stayed at an Air B&B in the Gulch. Uber was inexpensive from there.

Is the Rolling Stones exhibit up and running. How long to see both the museum and exhibit. Can you buy tickets at the door or do we run a risk of not getting them. We were going to come on a Friday.
Written April 2, 2018
Hello! The Rolling Stones is currently up and running. They will be at the Musicians Hall of Fame until the end of July. The Rolling Stones Exhibit takes about 90 minutes and we like to recommend about 2 hours for MHOF. Both the museum and Rolling Stones Exhibition are self-guided so you can take however much time you need.
You are more than welcome to purchase tickets at the door. We try to get tickets as fast as we can so even if there is a little line you won't be waiting long. We look forward to seeing you on Friday!
If you look on our website the price breakdown for each museum is on there. If you have any further questions please feel free to call!

When is construction going to be completed?
Written September 22, 2015
Hello! Our expansion, the Grammy Museum Gallery, will be open by the end of 2015. Construction and installation is ongoing, but is not obstructing any of the current exhibits. Appropriate adjustments will be made if there are noise issues. Hope this helps! Feel free to call the museum at (615) 244-3263 if you have further questions.
