What a beautiful campus - great place to stretch your legs and enjoy the architecture. Stop in at the admissions office in the converted original gym - great story about repurposing the building. Wish they had a super museum as many university's do but at...More

A great treat is to go to the Music School (Blair) for their evening entertainment. VERY high end performances absolutely at no charge. Parking near by. Concerts at 8pm nightly.

You don't have to be a student to enjoy Vanderbilt University. The campus itself is a great area to walk and enjoy the beauty of the campus. Parking is very limited but there are garages on the outskirts of campus that are generally free parking...More

Vanderbilt, one of America's finest seats of higher learning, is also one of its most beautiful. The feeling of energy is palpable and the students are reported to be the "happiest" in the U.S.

My wife and I came to Nashville for the Florida - Vanderbilt football game. The UF Alumni group setup a pregame gathering in the Student Life building which was very nice and modern. On the 10 minute walk over from the Student Life building to...More

Vanderbilt is a beautiful campus on beautiful grounds. The trees are amazing and the campus is classed as an arbotorium. The Magnolia trees are unmatched and the groundstaff do lots to maintain the open feel under the canopy of the mature trees. The architecture of...More

Worth a walkthrough in Nashville, the campus is a natural arboretum, with over 300 types of trees (I know that because I applied to be a Vandy tour guide when I went to school there). Peaceful bubble away from the downtown rush of Nashville. Peabody...More

Best Western Music Row is one of the budget-focused hotels in that area. It's about 10 blocks from Vanderbilt.

what to see - Vandy visit (3 Replies)
We are heading to Nashville Friday to tour Vanderbilt University with our 17 year old son. After the tour, we will have most of Friday and half of Saturday to explore. What should we "not miss" in our limited time?? Thanks.

If your son chooses Vandy, his life will pretty much revolve around the Hillsboro Village/Belmont/West End neighborhoods. Make sure to check out those areas (all are good for walking), along with 12-South and Green Hills. I'd recommend you do Friday night dinner in one of these areas as well so he can see more of off campus student life. Sunset Grill would be a good bet, as would Tin Angel. Try the Pancake Pantry for breakfast/brunch on Saturday - don't be intimidated by the line, it moves...More
Recommended restaurants around Vanderbilt (5 Replies)
I'm going to be staying near Vanderbilt university with my wife for a couple of days and was looking into the type of food available within walking distance. Well, what I discovered is that there appears to be an embarassment of riches when it comes to restaurants. We would appreciate it greatly if someone can help us narrow our choices by recommending some restaurants to us. We enjoy all types of food so what we're looking for is great quality for a reasonable price. What restaurant around...More

Noshville is a good place within walking distance for breakfast and good kosher food. Also the pancake pantry is a favorite for locals of all sorts which includes Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley ect... If you like Indian food there is two places very close to Vanderbilt, I just can't spell it but if you are interested in them let me know I will get it for you. You may like Ruth Chris, good but can be pricey. Also if you like brewed beer check out Blackstone. i am trying to think Vanderbilt area. I...More
