Access points for the Hudson River Greenway ???? (2 Replies)
Not sure yet where we are staying, probably the new Doubletree in Chelsea on west 29th street. We want to bike the Greenway on the west side of Manhattan. I've seen the map online, and seen some designated access points at 155th street (Audobon Terrace). Are there access points onto the Greenway at every block, or only designated spots? I guess what I'm asking is, if we left the hotel and headed west on 29th street, would we be able to get onto the Greenway there, or would we have to travel...More

According to the map for the Husdon River Park there is an access point at 29th street, and every 2 or three blocks north and south from there up to 59th street. There is a dedicated bike/rollerblade path. In some sections still being built the path is shared with pedestrians, but most of it is separated. There are special stop lights for bikes which most ignore but you are supposed to follow. One important thing, if bringing bikes make sure your hotel has facilities for you.
