About
This street in Nashville, once the hub of the city's printing industry, is now a vibrant nightlife district dotted with eye-catching murals and neon lights. You can catch a burlesque show at the famous Skull’s Rainbow Room, groove to blues music at Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar, or sing your heart out at Lonnie’s Western Room karaoke bar. If you're feeling peckish, head to Back Alley Diner on their Singer Songwriter Nights or grab a classic hotdog from Daddy's Dogs. Not sure where to start? Consider taking a guided pub crawl or a sightseeing walking tour to check out all the best spots. – Tripadvisor

- Bradford P1 contributionPrinter's Alley of the 1960'sI grew up in a different Nashville when Printer's Alley was known for Skull Schulman's Rainbow Room. The only true strip bar in Nashville. With the Las Vegas star attraction Heaven Lee! It was also home to Boots Randolph's, Nashville's most famous saxophonist, fine dining and music restaurant. It definitely was not a tourist destination spot. But a great place to be 18 in 1968! Check out Skull Schulman's Rainbow Room online before you go and take a look at one of Nashville's best kept secrets from it's history. Area is clean with a few food options as well as a few establishments you can sit in and listen to great music. A treasure of a find after the hustle of Broadway.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 8, 2024

This means fewer crowds and vehicles. But not too many selections and the music was ok - lots of covers. If you want a little quieter then head here.Visited January 2024Traveled soloWritten January 27, 2024

The Grand Ole Opry is still a must, but it's in a mall parking lot across from Dave and Busters. The Ryman Auditorium and the Johnny Cash museum are cool but everything is very very expensive. Broadway Street is becoming quite corporate like Gatlinburg where every other bar is named after a country singer but most are owned by a corporation that paid the singer to use their name. Drinks and food are overpriced. BUT if you want to start drinking at 10am and stop at 3am and party til you puke. Well, go to Nashville.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 28, 2024

We went with the family to take a stroll in the morning. It was a charming alley to walk thru but coming back next time in the evening to experience the live jazz music. Definitely a great spot to take pictures.

Printer's Alley is a very popular destination located between 3rd and 4th Avenue in Downtown. It is a part of the night club district and was formerly an area dedicated to publishing. It has bars, restaurants, jazz clubs and restaurants. It was a great place to visit. Lively music scene.

We went here for dinner on a Tuesday night, then wandered into a couple of the other clubs before going to Broadway. This is quieter and cleaner than Boradway - we got dressed up. Still standing room only on a Tuesday but good mix of music styles.

Printers Alley was an interesting area. We had dinner at skulls rainbow room and arrived early so we could walk the alley and have a drink before dinner. It’s a good alternative to downtown went downtown it’s too crowded

A little off Broadway and a little seedy feeling. Not necessarily a knock if you like that hidden speakeasy experience. Printer's Alley is probably more authentic than the new places you find now. We saw a New Orleans type band for which there was a cover charge. It was quite crowded with standing room only but had cleared enough to find seating before it was over at 2am. We thought it was great fun after we had tired of the excessive crowds on Broadway during a busy weekend.

The sheer madness of Broadway in Honky Tonk Row on a Saturday night got us exploring elsewhere. So we ventured a couple of blocks away and ended up in Printers Alley
And what a great option it turned out to be. Enough people to make the scene buzzy, but no queues to mention, no craziness and half a dozen great bars with awesome music to explore.

Stayed waaay longer than expected but loved every minute of it.

I visits the alley in the daytime, and was very disappointed! There were no open doors or inviting establishments. The alley was full of trash. It is very short with very few bars. I learned too late that the dueling piano bar I was looking for had recently re-opened in one of the alley bars, but it doesn’t open until 6 pm. The outdoor lighting is cool in the alley, but this isn’t something I would put in front of other “sites-to-see”.

I wouldn’t make a special trip to come here. We walked around the alley but didn’t go into any bars. The area was definitely overhyped, in my opinion. Use your time to do something more fun than walking down an alley with a few lights hanging up.

Hey guys! I will be in Nashville, TN in September and am planning a bachelorette party. I am wondering if printers alley is walking distance to Broadway/Music Row? I am not familiar with the area and we plan on going to the bars at night and doing more sightseeing during the day? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You might try the Omni Nashville but it has been sometime since I was there so you might want to double check on that.
Have a safe and fun trip!
