We went with a group on a weekday night cruise, which was only about half full. The weather was beautiful, so we enjoyed sitting on the deck. Unfortunately, it took 20 minutes for one of our party to get our drinks from the bar and the prices were not cheap - $20 for 2 beers and a club soda. Shortly after launch, there was an announcement to move into the theater for dinner. The food was average, with no choices offered. Portions were small. The shrimp and grits was tasty, but the beef was not to my liking. Service was frenzied, and requests for dressing, coffee, butter, caused a huff and a puff. There was barely time for a restroom break between the meal and the show, and the slow queue meant little chance for seeing the city lights. The show was very disappointing. Frankly, the performers were underwhelming, although they had good material to work with. We bailed out after 20 minutes, and instead just walked around the boat, then sat on the deck enjoying the summer air, which was peaceful. I regret spending the money for this activity and would not recommend.

This is the second time we have done the General Jackson, having loved it so much the first time. At time of booking on line you are allocated a table so the earlier you book the better seat you will have.
Food is buffet service and you help yourself as soon as you board the boat. Sample menus are on the website as it varies. The food is a good quality and included in the meal is a dessert and an Iced Tea. Other drinks are available at a cost.
As the boat leaves dock, the show starts and lasts about an hour. Again, the shows vary but on both occasions have featured a good selection of songs through the years. It is timed to perfection because as the show ends it gives you enough time to get onto the upper decks for amazing views of Downtown/Nissan Stadium. This is where the boat turns around and you are then free to wander around or just sit on the many chairs available and chill out slowing chugging back down the river. There is a small gift shop available and a bar for additional drinks.
Would not hesitate to recommend this trip and when we are next in Nashville we will definitely return for trip number 3.

We went on the 4th of July dinner cruise and it was AMAZING!! The dinner was very good and well done, the service 7 servers were very kind and went above and beyond. Unfortunately they do put a lot of people on the boat which makes it difficult to move around at times. I would not recommend attempting to take a w/c or scooter to this event. The fireworks from the boat were perfect and we did not deal with any of the traffic. The after dinner show was really good as well. They did new and old songs and the performers were great to watch.

WhiIe the staff was excellent; informative and friendly, we have to say we were fairly disappointed in this cruise. We did the day cruise, but elected not to eat the lunch as we had an early dinner reservation (3:30) to meet family living in the area. There was NO complimentary water, coffee, ice tea, etc, altho you could buy soda or alcoholic beverages. We just wanted water and ice tea. We were more than willing to purchase them. We were told those would be provided at our table in the dining room during the show. We were never offered anything to drink at all during the show. This is a couple hour cruise.....way to long to not have any beverages.. For the amount we paid (approx $50 pp) I should think they could afford complimentary water, tea, and coffee. The show itself was just okay. Our time and money would have been better spent downtown in the honkey tonk bars, where we had no problem getting complimentary water, with really good entertainment, to boot.

Aside from the show being entertaining and the scenery being beautiful, this is where the compliments end. They only had 2 bartenders for a few hundred people, so don't plan on getting more than one drink, if you are patient enough to stand in line a minimum of 30 minutes. They say the best time to take sunset pictures is 8pm but didn't serve dinner until 7:45 (boarded at 7), so you either miss the sunset or leave the table before you're done eating. Our server didn't accommodate a passenger that requested a vegan dinner and said when she 'had time' she would get her something else and was rude all night and repeating how many tables she had to tend to. And last, they take your picture before you get on the boat. There was one woman walking around during dinner with an arm load of these pictures trying to deliver them to the guests. She would look at the picture on top of her pile and then look around the huge room for them. We never got 'found', therefore we didn't have a chance to buy the pictures. All these things ruined what could've been a perfect night. I would not recommend for the money it cost, no way!

I felt the Sunday lunch cruise was very much overpriced for what was provided.
I expected to hear a calliope but General Jackson apparently doesn't have one.
Lunch served was only mediocre.
Wait staff was very rushed. They semi seemed to be throwing the plates with food at you, removing plates in a hurried fashion also , often before diners were finished. Water glasses were often filled to the absolute brim in a rushed fashion and more than one person had ice water spilled or dripped on them at our table of 10 people Ten folks per table made for very close seating and we were only a party of two. We did not know the other eight people we were seated with.
Only water was provided. To get a glass of tea or water you had to ask wait staff.
Show provided was not of quality I expected for a Nashville show. I've seen much better shows at Badgett Playhouse in Grand Rivers, KY and Sevierville, TN.
The Cumberland River that General Jackson travels on is very narrow and not much scenery to look at . However, when the Nashville skyline comes in to view it is nice to see.
I personally do not recommend this adventure because the quality of trip provided does not equal the price charged. I won't take it again nor recommend it to anyone.

The pre-cruise musical entertainment was good. Then dinner - salad, beef tips (good), hash and 2 jumbo shrimp (good), green beans and tomatoes (okay). Dessert (lemon poppy cake and raspberry - AMAZING). The "show" part lasted an hour and was a tribute to Tennessee legends. Honestly I expected a longer show! The best part was the view of the city at night... Gorgeous. Probably a bit overpriced experience.

Also, from a COVID perspective there was zero social distancing inside the main dining area. We had 2 people sitting at our table we didn't know and had to socially distance ourselves. Staff wore masks but most patrons did not.

We did the evening dinner cruise. The show was awesome. The singing great. The views from the ship were spectacular at night.
My one complaint is that we were told to let our host and waiters know we needed gluten free menu items. Without batting an eye, the waiter assured us everything on the meal that night was gluten free. We are almost certain the brown gravy served with the spare rib is not GF and the dessert was not either. Cake dish! A quick cup of fruit was slapped together for my wife to eat.
Was told when I purchased tickets that there would be “a note” sent to the General Jackson advising them of the dietary need. I felt that the staff didn’t really seem to care and was not educated in food allergies.
Otherwise the show was great and would recommend it to anyone wanting to see/hear good music and experience a live show.

This was a fantastic experience all around. Went with my wife and 4-year old. There weren't many other kids there, but our son had a great time. We got the Captains Table package. Highly recommend this. You get escorted onto the ship and up to a private area by the pilot house at boarding. You get a special cocktail, included in the price, as soon as you arrive. Then you get to meet the ship's captain in the pilot house. The captain let our son sit in the captain's chair and blow the ship's horn, which was very cool. You get seated first at dinner and get an upgraded dessert, which was definitely worthwhile. Lastly, you get a free t-shirt for everyone in your party. The show itself is after dinner, and about an hour in duration. This was a good enough time, so you could also take pictures of the downtown area beforehand. The show was fantastic, even if you don't follow country music. Great experience and highly recommended!

If this review was based on the show then this would be a 5*plus assessment. It was fantastic.

We booked the Captains Table experience and both souvenir plastic glasses we received were pre used and had cracks.

The Captains Tables were in the second row of tables so we were not the first to be served our food. The waitress serving us was very abrupt and told us she was too busy to get alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks. We had to join a queue to get them and I gave up after 20 mins as the queue had hardly moved.

By the time I got back to the table without drinks the main course had been served and it was pretty cold. Apart from that the quality was OK.

To rub salt into the wound the head waiter who had served us with nothing came at the end of the show and refused to move until he had received a tip.

By the time lunch had been served the boat had turned at Downtown and was on its way back up with five minutes before the show started. So if you want to see some fantastic views then you either have to pass on some of the meal or miss part of the show.

Luckily the show saved the day.
