- Bterror11Akron, Ohio79 contributionsEveyone has to visit Tootsies! Bachelor and bachelorette party hotspot!Tootsies is one of those iconic bars that you have to visit... just because. We were lucky enough to reserve the VIP area BEHIND the band on the top floor. That made the whole experience even more memorable! The band playing that night was Nash Up, a house band that was versatile and talented. Drinks were reasonable, going to the bathroom was not. The only restrooms were 3 floors down and on the other side of the building...at least you get to hear all of the other bands playing on the lower levels...Visited February 2020Written February 17, 2020
- Rhi99183 contributionsWe love Tootsies!!Every time we come to Nashville, we have an amazing time in Tootsies! The artists are all brilliant and work the crowd, everyone is made to feel welcome by them. Loads of history so don’t go expecting luxury... a good old fashioned Honky Tonk is what you’ll get! The staff are generally lovely... attentive, quick service other than one barmaid - long dark hair, worked the evening shift on Tuesday 11th Feb on the ground floor! Total mood killer... literally face like thunder, rude, could turn your drink sour. All the rest are great though and we didn’t let her misery dampen our night hence the 5 stars 😊Visited February 2020Traveled with friendsWritten February 13, 2020
- SaskieDCanada63 contributionsIt’s all in the name.Popular Nashville legend that is riding on its name now. Overpriced beer to listen to 3 acoustic soloists share the same stage and absolutely BUTCHER music. Tip to all musicians: if you only know the songs on your set list don’t take requests.Visited March 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten March 11, 2022
- Scott B1 contributionSold Our Table Out From Under UsTerrible! We were told, not asked to leave our table. It was a busy night and my wife and I and my brother and his wife dropped in to hear music and take in the historic ambience. It was part of a surprise trip my wife had planned for my 60th birthday. We waited for a table like everyone else does, and finally one opened up and we sat down. About 30 minutes into our visit, a waitress walked over to our table and told us she had to clear the table and that we had to leave. We were in the process of ordering another round of drinks and they told us, didn’t ask us, to leave. We weren’t given the opportunity to finish our drinks, just rushed right out the door. We were all confused and did not immediately realize what was going on. The waitress was rude and unsympathetic when we asked why we were being asked to leave, and when we were slow to clear out in all this confusion, she got the bouncer involved. The bouncer explained that another guest just offered them $500 for our table for an hour, so we had to leave. This is a horrible way to do business especially in this city so dependent on the tourist/ hospitality trade. There are so many better options, musically and service-wise, on the very same street, and I recommend you choose anywhere but Tootsie’s.Visited March 2022Traveled with friendsWritten March 19, 2022
- Kelly UAppleton, Wisconsin75 contributionsA Must StopWe had a great time at Tootsies. While it was incredibly crowded, so was everywhere else. We made our way through the levels and once we decided the rooftop was just too crowded, we ended up on another floor right behind a band. It was standing only, but there is a "bar" around the band platform where people can stand to watch, and at least we were out of the way of traffic and could watch the band and lean against something. The band was so fun, it was almost like a live band karaoke but with great singers from the crowd. We had fun interacting with some of the band members and just really enjoyed the "dive bar" atmosphere. Nothing fancy here, just a fun place to feel like you're really in Nashville.Visited February 2020Written February 26, 2020
- IzzyGentryTyler, Texas103 contributionsMusicians Who Appreciate MusiciansThis was a spot in which you could tell hopeful musicians came to hear and network with other hopeful musicians. I CAN NOT stand when bands take 30-45 to switch sets. It’s rude to those buying drink, who came out in the cold, and even during Covid. It’s disrespectful. As a musician myself who has played every major venue in LA this would have been completely unacceptable. You come to hear music not to watch one band chat it up with the next in between sets. The drinks are basic and the ambiance is best on the balcony overlooking the strip. Each band is talented I’ll give you that.Visited June 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten June 27, 2021
- LizabethM23Estherville, Iowa9 contributionsGreat atmosphere, but...4 of us sat for a few hours and enjoyed the great live music and general vibe of the place. Our waitress was great. The bill was not so great. With each drink comes a plate of 4 French fries and a few tator tots that we did not order. We thought it was funny they kept bringing them and assumed it was a perk like peanuts at a bar. They are not free and you are charged $5.50 every time along with a customer service fee at the end. We paid $176 for cold French fries and tator tots that we never even ordered. We had a blast but we won't be back.Visited December 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten December 5, 2020
- bobbiloLong Island, New York93 contributionsFun Time!Tootsie's was a great experience! It's small and crowded but the crowd is electric and the drinks are unique, since I'm not a beer drinker. Loved it when the whole place sang Brooks' 'I've Got Friends in Low Places. Being a senior citizen I wouldn't have sought it out on my own but my daughter's friend lives in Nashville and said we had to go. So glad we did!Visited June 2021Written August 4, 2021
- Ilovepuntacana1977 contributionsNot on my must return list ….I’ve been here a couple times before but today’s visit left a bad taste in my mouth. We stopped in early to have a Bloody Mary and take in the atmosphere. The Bloody Mary was extremely over priced and bland. $13 dollars a drink so small it was a glorified Dixie cup. No garnish at all . Just disappointing. I’m not one to complain about prices of drinks as I’ve traveled quite a bit and seen a lot of price variances. Also, the band (which was just ok) kept asking people to tip $20 (this seems to be the norm in most places we went to) They even asked for $20 when they came around with the bucket. We always tip but I’m sorry, I’m not dropping $20 every time. There are so many great places on Broadway. We left and enjoyed ourselves hopping aroundVisited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 2, 2023
- huskies062111 contributionsGood sandwiches, veggie burgers, fries and musicIt's a bar, but the food is actually really good, and also quite cheap vs. many local places. Had the pulled pork and wife had the bean burger. Both are sizeable and then they heap the plate with fries that are well seasoned. Pretzel bites were good too, but not as good as the sandwiches and fries. Inside atmosphere takes some getting used to if you've never been there...totally unpolished but steeped in history. Plus I've never heard bad music at Tootsie's. We were there 5 years ago and knew we liked it, but honestly forgot how much we liked it!Visited October 2021Written October 26, 2021

We walked in at 10pm. We were seated up stairs near the stairs so it was the battle of the bands since there are two bands one up one down. Ordered a drink and nachos. When you order a drink you get a few fries to nibble on. When I say few I mean maybe 10 fries. Nachos came pretty quickly very good. Ordered my second drink at 10:30. Bands were very good. Locals. At 11:00 lights came on and we were told to leave. I wasn’t even down signing the bill. I thought that was rude. Walking downstairs there were people still seated not getting pushed out. Covid hours or not, don’t push your customers out so you can clean up.

This is an iconic bar with great music. Seating is very limited so be ready to just stand around. Needed more umbrellas outside as it was very hot! Drinks are super pricey so bring on the cash money! Cool place to see once.

Beer was more expensive with slower service here. It was a weeknight and the bands were mediocre (had two bands playing). It was still an enjoyable experience because it's a historic venue. I've been there during the day when it is less crowded and a little more enjoyable

My wife and I visited Tootsies on 08/20/22 in the early afternoon. The male and female lead singers were great. We would like to see them again. Can you tell me the name of the band? Thanks.

I'm trying to make lunch reservations for 4 people on Friday, December 10th at 1;00pm at the Tootsie Orchid Lounge, Nashville, TN

We didn't eat at Tootsies, just had drinks. I think of it as more of a bar, rather than a restaurant. It is typically loud and noisy and has a great vibe and good music, but not sure I'd have lunch there when there are so many other dining options close by.
Coming to visit October 3 and 4. How do I know what local people will be performing then?

I have a question in general about the bars on Broadway. We will be making our first visit to Music City, but will only have a few days (Mon & Tues in August). How many bars can we realistically expect to go to, and still go to a few museums? Please advise, as we want to maximize our time, but still hit a few of the iconic bars such as Tootsie’s. Thanks

You can hit a number of the bars in an evening, if you are not staying long. They are all in walking distance in about a 3 to 4 block area. get food at one, and get a drink at a few others. If you are staying in Nashville Uber from the hotel to their and back and you won't have to worry about driving. Tootsies can get a line but we waited only to about 30 minutes around 630 at night during prime eating time.

We are going to be in town for their birthday bash next week - if we want rooftop access there, is there a time it is best to arrive at Tootsie's by? We'd be planning to stay & eat/drink, not just hang out... thanks!

We were actually there the middle of the afternoon. The first two floors were packed but the third wasn’t (it was hot that day). If you are doing an evening bash it will be packed. It will start to get busy around 6 because that’s when kids are no longer allowed in. There is a stairwell to the right of the main door. Use that to access the top floor because it’s so much easier than trying to get through the bars. We didn’t find this until we were leaving. Have a great time the city is a blast.
