More
Belle Meade Plantation is a non-profit historic site located in Nashville, TN. Established in 1807, Belle Meade was revered as the greatest thoroughbred stud farm in the United States. It was home to Iroquois, the first American bred horse to win the Epsom Derby and the great foundation sire,Bonnie Scotland, whose descendants include Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Native Dancer, Big Brown and California Chrome. Belle Meade was owned and operated by the Harding-Jackson family for nearly a century from 1807 until 1906. Today their home is restored to its turn of the century appearance along with several original outbuildings.

We loved our tour of the plantation and grounds! It's absolutely beautiful...especially at Christmastime. The tour guide was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and funny. We both learned a lot. The wine tasting at the end of the tour was an added bonus...very good wine!...More

Loved the Christmas tree themed rooms for the different generations of family that lived there! Lots of interesting history in a beautiful mansion and the horse breeding history was a bonus area of interest. The wine tasting was fast and somewhat limited in sample size...More

So this tour had some very interesting facts about the history of horse breeding. Right now, the tour was focused on different decades of Christmas...which was cool...wish they had focused tour mire in the horse breeding but the house and surrounding grounds were beautiful. There...More

The Belle Meade Plantation is an impressive piece of Nashville history and those who enjoy stepping back in time on a guided tour of a typically upscale 19th century estate should spend a few hours at Belle Meade. It may not be as elegant as...More

This one is in Belle Meade, really just a part of Nashville. Mansion is a good survivor, PLenty of buildings as well, and a slave cottage. The winery is a bit of a stretch as none of the wine is grown there, it is all...More

Belle Meade is truly a majestic mansion that transports you to another place in time. The presenters on the tour were informative and answered all questions. The winery is a nice touch and the grounds are beautiful. If in area highly recommend a visit.

I did not notice any Segways on the Plantation. The landmarks are fairly close to each other and we're easy to walk to.

I do not believe that the house was air-conditioned (at least not all of it)-- but it was comfortable during the tour as they do have some type of ventilation that seemed to keep it at a reasonable temperature even when it... More
