It was a pretty unorganized mess getting the tour started. To enter you must ring a doorbell and wait for a guide to answer. That same guide will take you to the gift shop and try to take your payment while having to run out to answer the door several times. The home was unimpressive but the story did have... More

Adelicia Hayes Franklin Acklen Cheatham was kin and socially acquainted with U.S. Presidents and local upper echelon folks in newly post-frontier Nashville. She had a life of strength, success, sadness, and stellar social standing. Born in 1817, she was a well-educated wife, mother, equestrienne, socialite, international traveller,, and advocate of fair pay for women in an antebellum age. When her... More

If you like Civil War era history, you will love this. There are so many interesting items in this house and the story about the owners is great. I only wish the tour could have been longer. There is no photography or use of a video device.

I wasn't able to visit during hours but the house is impressive from the outside. I enjoyed the grounds and was able to stroll around the college too.

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the grounds and gardens at Belmont Mansion. The gardens that you viewed are just a small part of what was originally a very lavish estate. Adelicia Acklen's Belmont sat on 177 acres, over half of which elaborate gardens. More

If you enjoy Civil War-era history, this home tour takes you back to life of the wealthy during that era. Knowledgeable guide. Very interesting!

This mansion was gigantic and beautiful, but what took the cake was the rich and fascinating history of the owner, Adelicia. She is definitely an unknown person in history that everyone should be learning about, so to hear her stories in her house was completely compelling! Taleoftwo20somethings.blogspot.com

Some of the rooms were under renovation so it was not a good time to visit. The fact that the University was built attached to the house and surrounding it there are no real grounds to visit. The story was impressive and the fact that tours start every 30 min is a plus. There are ropes everywhere that you must... More

We always try to visit a historic mansion while on vacation and The Belmont was worth the small charge and short tour. Located on the beautiful Vanderbuilt University campus. our Tour guide was really nice and hopefully they will get all the restorations done!

We had just finished Hermitage where the information given was great. We didn't feel the history went deep enough. There were a lot of missing holes in the story. When we asked questions they were answered vaguely. I would have liked to know more about the Union Army taking over and how that affected her and her family! There are... More
