Pretty Scenery Spoilt By Wind Turbines
Apr 2021
It was on the way from Toora to Agnes Falls and worthy of a look but it was a wind farm and frankly destroyed the scenery which is quite pretty through this part of the Strezlecki Ranges. There are twelve Vestas wind systems capable of creating 21 MV of electricity and one turbine can power up to 6,600 homes. The units are 67 M high and the rotor blaeds 66 M in diameter. Now you know.

Worth a drive up the hill to see the spectacular views to Wilson’s Prom.
And the wind turbines up close!

Worth a look
Dec 2019
We stayed at Toora Tourist Park at the bottome of the Wind Farm. Our view at the top of the caravan park was these large wind mills. We ventured up there and the views are spectacular.

Certainly worth a visit on the way back from Agnes Falls!
Oct 2019
We stopped off here after visiting Agnes Falls and was worth stopping. It was a beautiful day with very little wind but the turbines were still working - very noisy, would hate them to be close to a home!

Spectacular scenery
Aug 2019
This area is well worth a visit. Take your time and make sure you see as much as you can.
We headed to Agnes Falls first via Toora. An absolutely gorgeous drive to the falls through green rolling hills. The countryside is beautiful dairy country. It's only a short walk to the falls from the carpark and well worth a visit. The falls were magnificent.
From there we drove down Silcocks Hill Rd back towards Toora taking in the views out to the Prom and stopping off at the viewing area for the Toora wind farm. These huge turbines are amazing and the sound they make while turning is unlike anything we have heard before. It's actually very peaceful. It's interesting to read about the turbines on the information boards there and you get quite close to one of them.
Head down the road from there taking in the magnificent views.

Worth a quick visit. The sight and views are beautiful and you can park close by one and hear the noise they make.

This was my second time to view the Toora Wind Farm.
The wind farm is not really a place, so to speak, as the towers with the turbines are spead for a number of miles. There is a lookout on the road from Toora to Agnes Falls. You also get glimpses of the turbines along the roads here and there.
The lookout has an information display explaining how the wind farm, and the turbines work. One of the huge towers with the giant turbines atop stands only a couple of hundred meters away. More stretch off into the distance.
I have visited open-cut coal mines and coal-fired power stations elsewhere in Gippsland. The Toora Windfarm is much more serene. The first time I went there, in high summer. some cows were resting in the shade. It made for a nice photograph.
It is quite a nice view from there. I would recommend stopping by, even if only for a few minutes.

Very interesting and educational saving to our environment. 12 wind turbines are a stunning sight with the undulating hills in the background.
