For something decidedly different and entirely enjoyable, Queenscliff's legendary Blues Train is one of Victoria's most spectacular entertainment and dining experiences. The Blues Train departs Queenscliff between the months of August and May, offering a unique musical meal and show. With a capacity of 200 (50 in each of the four carriages) it has become enormously popular as a function venue and can accommodate and provide catering for parties of one to 200 people for a unique dinner and show - including weddings, birthday parties, corporate functions, christmas celebrations and special occasions. The Blues Train event begins at the historic town of Queenscliff. Patrons tuck into a hearty meal prepared by our Blues Train caterers. Drinks to take on the journey are available on the platform from the T-bar in the guard's van, open at each of the four stops. At each stop revellers swap carriages to find a new band tuning-up ready for the next act. One of the carriages only has seating running along each wall. The seating arrangement and up-beat music in this carriage leaves little option other than getting up for a bit of a boogie. But you don't have to dig the blues to enjoy the Blues Train, you just have to be open to a really good time. The Blues Train runs along the old Geelong train line, stopping in turn at Suma Park historic homestead and winery, and then at Drysdale before turning around and making its way back to Queenscliff, again via Suma Park. The Blues Train has hosted many great musicians since its inception, including Aussie blues legends Jimi Hocking, Chris Wilson and Lloyd Spiegel and Aria Award winners Collard Greens and Gravy and Mia Dyson.

We had a fun night on the Blues Train with 4 artists/groups performing a variety of blues based music. The spit roast to start the night was nothing special but tasty and everyone seemed to enjoy the meal. The format of starting in a carraige and swapping at each stop to cover all four carraiges is a bit of fun... More

We were the last carriage ti be fed so food was pretty dyed out at the only corse they have. there was 12 of us and we didnt even get to sit together most of the night. They over book so some of us had to stand crammed into a corner all night. The music was fantastic the toilets were... More

Hi Trevor H, Thanks for your feedback. Regarding the food, fresh portions are brought out for each carriage before they are seated, including the last carriage however we will pass on your feedback to our caterers. Everyone on The Blues Train gets a seat, unless they are in the dance carriage which has partial seating. Also, if some groups book... More

Enjoyed The Blues Train on Saturday night with friends. Very well organised, food not fantastic but okay. All four entertainers provided a variety of music and song, the night has to put a smile on your face and if you love something different, go and enjoy the Blues Train.

Novel experience but too expensive and over rated. Food was lousy and poor toilet facilities. Drinks were expensive.

Hi JanKel3, We are unsure what you are comparing The Blues Train price to as this is a one off experience. If you factor in the train ride, the cost of seeing four musical acts and a meal we are confident we have always represented value for money. We can only assume that you did not look at the menu... The Tapestry Girls had waited over 12 months to go on The Blues Train. Our expectations of the night were not based on the standard of the food or the music, BUT on the atmosphere provided and having fun. We were out to party and party we did. After a booking slipup on my behalf (which was only discovered on... More

On boarding was efficient and the MC was quite funny with his rehearsed introduction and housekeeping piece. Carriages seats varied between awful gutted ones and pretty comfortable. Food was pretty forgettable, let's just say it, airline food is probably better. Music was generally good, though marred by poor mixing tending to muffle the singers. We bought the CD and it's... Hi Stefano R, After 22 years of experience we are pleased to say that we pride ourselves on the organisation of the night. The train is like a moving museum, showcasing the classic designs of an old steam train, so yes the seating varies and is maintained by the volunteers at the railway but it is all a part of... More
