If you love a hike, love historical sites, including where a sitting Prime Minister disappeared, love a view and particularly love it all for free, this is the place for you. There is a bit of walking involved if you want to see it all but a free shuttle bus can take you straight to Fort Nepean, missing out all the sites inbetween. A great half day out.

If you are interested in sailing, there are plants of opportunities to encapsulate this breathtaking coastal waters on the Mornington Peninsula.

Pick up a boat with a good crews, leaving from Blairgowrie sailing swiftly along coastal waters to Sorrento and Quarantine Point.

If you are a sailing enthusiast, you won’t be disappointed!

One of my most favourite places to visit in Victoria. I don't know what it is about this place. I just love it. The views are stunning, the history of it interesting. It is also considered the thinnest point of Victoria.
If you take the shuttle bus up the driver tells you the history of this place as well as some interesting facts :-)
Enjoy!

The Fort is located within the Point Nepean National Park and is a nice easy 1hr stroll from the last car park. For those wanting there is also a shuttle bus that will take you to the Fort.
The walk has lots of smaller walks running off and there is heaps to see.
The Forts are a wonderful step back into our history and are full of information boards teaching and showing you what the site was used for over the years.
You can easily spend a day at the park and still not explore all it has to offer.
You can also bring your bikes!

Walked from quarantine car park to Fort and back- about 6-7kms. Some hills to climb but can make it a leisurely day. Fort at the end of the walk is very interesting with lots of information and incredible views!! There is shuttle to and back-can’t remember the cost

Fort Nepean was one of Australia's most important military installations and there are substantial remains left to visit all for free. It sits strategically on the tip of the Mornington Peninsula guarding the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. There are numerous tunnels, observation stations and gun emplacements to explore. It is in a great state of preservation with information panels and old photographs throughout and audio in some rooms to help explain things further. It was here that the first shot in World War 1 was fired. There are a couple of Mark VII guns on display and a disappearing gun which folded below ground level when not in use.

Went down to Fort Nepean to visit the Craft Market and it was really good with plenty of options available. The area is very historic and has a lovely outlook to the Rip . We did the entire tour of the Fort last year and it is stunning. Pick a nice day , pack a picnic lunch , take advantage of the free shuttle bus and simply enjoy.

What a Place, What a history,
That is a great experience, a naturally wild nature with some area with unexploded bombs.

Just before the nepean national park, it has lot of historical significance as soldiers were quarantined there during world war time.
The place is serene with hardly any visitors. But the landscapes around the fort are amazing along with gardens and way to beaches.
Must visit and stoppage on way to national park

Fort Nepean is a great day out. So much to see with spectacular views over the bay. Lots of history on display. So many different walking tracks to suit every fitness level so wear comfortable walking shoes and take a water bottle. If you want to cut down the walking distance jump on the bus and ride to the point. $10 for adults and $7.50 for children. This is well worth it as the walk has some steep paths to climb. This is a great day out for everyone and a fantastic place for taking photos of the views and grounds.
