What an experience! On top of a mountain, in the snow, being pulled along by a team of very excited dogs doing the thing they love the most. Watching the pack work together was inspiring, and it left a huge grin on our faces!

The meet and greet of the dogs afterwards was the icing on the cake - such different personalities amongst the dogs, and getting to spend a little time thanking them for their work was pretty darn special!

We loved learning all the ins and outs of owning such a magnificent breed, how they're trained and how they work together. No question was silly, and we were made to feel very welcome - such lovely people!

If you're on the fence - jump on the 'must do' side. You won't regret it!

This is a must do activity when visiting Hotham or Dinner Plain, especially if you love and appreciate dogs.

What makes it even more special, is that every dog is a rescue. Even when the dogs retire, they live out their days at the farm with about 70 huskies in total calling it home.

My son (5 years old) and I went for a ride on the dog sled and it was so much fun. We enjoyed the ride, watching the power and intelligence of the dogs navigating their way through the trees, following the direction of the handler.

We especially enjoyed learning about the dogs, getting to know them individually and seeing their excitement when it was time to go for a ride. They couldn’t wait to run, and even when we stopped during the ride for them to rest, some of them just wanted to keep going, pulling the ropes and barking with excitement to get going again.

At the end of the ride, we could pet each dog, which they thoroughly enjoyed, and so did we! They were gentle with my son while allowing us to respectfully pat them. I got many dog kisses!

So glad we did this and also for supporting this amazing cause of rescuing huskies, where many are sadly bought by people who cannot cater to their needs, and give them up with behavioral issues that leave them know where to go if it wasn’t for Howling Huskies.

This experience was unique, exciting, breathtakingly beautiful and so much fun !
We are a family of four adults who spent five days on the mountain at the start of the 2023 season. We found Howling Huskies to be the highlight of our holiday.
The booking process was professional and friendly with lots of enthusiasm and practical information. The sled ride was informative and thrilling and we all left with a deeper appreciation for Howling Huskies. Finally the Huskies themselves were the energetic superstars of the day. We all found favourites amongst the packs, it was wonderful to hear and see all the different personalities. We encourage everyone to support this business that passionately cares for Huskies and particularly those dogs that find themselves homeless. HH provides them with a forever home and an opportunity to do what they love.

We found the Howling Huskies experience moderately good. Our driver of Sled was lovely, and dogs were active, however there was a few things that we felt needed improvement.
1. Cost $10 p/min is expensive.
2. No offer of package deal with x3 bookings.
3. Access to check-in hut was poor & dangerous. Understand it snows overnight & ice is ice, but there are measures that could have been taken to allow a safer less slippery access to your metal steps.
4. Check in could have been a lot easier if you were a bit more flexible & amicable with meeting the customer presenting to us with waiver paperwork. payments & handing out helmets, or having them more accessable, instead of every person having to navigate your dangerous slippery slope of an entrance. Your customer service on the day we went was poor.
5. Signage was not the best. Not seen coming from Mt Hotham ski resort side via road. Dogs hidden by trees & missed it coming through
6. Picking up dog poo each time during the express sled ride is not fair to customer paying a premium price & dogs loose momentum. Surely this can be done after rides...
7. The close proximity to the beginning of the tobboggan run requires a spotter, or better markers, rope holders or something to help traffic flow & better boundary awareness.

We have been to a sled ride in Canada Alberta & it was easier all round with check in process, level ground, dogs/sleds in a consecutive row ready to go in groups, and no stopping for poop pickup!
Still love the experience of this activity with dogs, drivers & their sleds. Great some of them are rescue dogs too & given a second chance💛🐺

Kiri was fantastic! She helped me to organise my surprise proposal to my now Fiancé for months prior to the booking- making sure everything was perfect. She nailed it! She paired me with Ryan who was An awesome guide and was perfectly suited to our personalities. He took us to the best look out spot, positioned everything perfect and was a great camera man to when it came to me popping the question! Huge thanks to the whole team for helping me arrange this secret proposal - you were all amazing and thank you again for the wine to celebrate! Not to mention the dogs aswell! They played their part by howling when she said yes, perfect moment! Will never forget it. 5 stars all round !

I took my First Nations Youth Advisory Group - Wayilak Bayubarring up to the snow for the first time. Having previously been on a Sled dog tour I knew I had to give the youth this opportunity, Jake and his team didn't miss a beat and made it so straightforward and easy. The tours themselves were the highlight for them and something they will never forget. Every trip to the snow should defiantly include a sled dog ride! Its hard to compare anything else to this experience but if your thinking about going on one just do yourself the favor and do it - bucket list item for sure. Its not just the sled dog ride but the staff taking the time to capture your photos for you, learning the dogs names, their order, watching them in action, having the time afterwards to go in and interact with the dogs getting your best selfies. To the team thank you so much each and everyone of you made this day so special and memorable and we are truly grateful. Bobbie

Exciting and different experience with my grandchildren aged 7 & 4. Staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs.
Dogs clearly very much loved and cared for. Our team included rescue dogs.
Lots of info given during ride about the dogs, their names, commands used and how the team of 8 works together. The grandchildren loved the ride in the snow, the time meeting the dogs at the end of ride and now cannot be separated from their soft toy huskys purchased from the office.
Thanks Howling Huskys.

A fabulous unique experience. The staff, Onah and Ryan were very friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The dogs were beautiful and the fact that they got a little distracted added to the experience. The ride was fun and safe, we were very lucky to have a lovely sunny day. Highly recommended.

My husband and 5yo son really loved their husky experience. The staff were so friendly and even let my 1yo and I (who didn’t do a tour) join them for a family photo with the sled. Having time to play with the dogs afterwards was my sons favourite part, and the staff are so knowledgeable and able to answer all questions. It is a really quality tour and I highly recommend.
