People pay to get in, book in advance and do the right thing by following the Covid rules only to be treated like animals by the rude staff.Terrible customer care and rude staff who are not abiding by the government's guest number protocols and creating their own rules. The cafe had a limit of 100 people at a time but with even 10 people inside at 3pm, the staff was literally chasing people out in an extremely rude fashion. Not visiting this place again. Better visit Baw Baw or Hotham. The staff at the cafe needs some training in customer care, they get paid right? an people pay to visit this place right?

You are required to pre purchase a ticket which cannot be changed or deferred. It was overcrowded. Most activities on Lake Mountain were closed. A toboggan run was open but very busy and staffed by officious rude people.
A separate snow play area is required.
I would not recommend this place as it turned out to be an expensive sojourn.
Snow might be light but we should be advised before going and be able to change plans. I would not recommend this place.

This was our second trip to Lake Mountain, the first being about 8 years ago.
Things that have improved: there is now a safety net at the end of the toboggan run preventing kids flying off the end into the little river (this happened to our 5 y old last time we were here so thanks for the safety improvement)
That is all I can think of for improvements. Everything else has gone south since!
In particular, the food available for purchase is foul. Fried, low quality chips + fish or nuggets. Although they advertise other items, none were available/ staff were not prepared to make a toasted sandwich.
Also remember to take enough drinking water for the day! They STILL have not come up with a solution to provide free, safe/filtered drinking water at the resort. But then why would they when they sell bottled water for $3.50?
But the thing that makes this place the most disappointing is the staff who patrol the toboggan runs. Instead of installing a sign to tell people not to stand at the end of the run to take photos or videos of their kids, they continuously shout at people to move away. I stood in the "safe" area off to the side and watched this happen all day. One senior staff member was inducting another on this day and told him "you literally have to repeat this ad nauseum all day long" and then proceeded to show him the rude and patronising manner in which he was required to hurry people off the run. Perhaps it's time for a rethink of this approach?!
In 4 unenjoyable hours for my children, they were told off 20+ times for tobogganing too fast, tobogganing out of control (!?), not getting out of the way of others coming down, walking on the tobogganing run (um, how would you like us to get off the mountain if you fall out half way down? Somersault?).
Put up a sign. Give people instructions when they enter/buy their tickets and then leave people to enjoy themselves!! Our children gave up trying to toboggan to your liking and we went home!!

I emailed prior to attending to enquire about hiring snowboards for the children and was told that they could be hired upon arrival.
To double check before driving 3 1/2 hours I called the day before leaving and asked about hiring some boards and was told I could do this on the day and there was no pre booking.
The website states that to snowboard you require a lesson, we arrived, went to book lessons and were advised that the children were only permitted to snowboard during the lesson. They were not permitted to snowboard anywhere else at any other time then their planned lesson. This is NOT explained properly on the website and was not relayed during my correspondence.
They are not taking pre bookings for lessons so you basically have to sit around for hours waiting for your lesson and then pack up and leave straight after.
I enquired about resort entry refund on the grounds we were unable to utilise the mountain due to the poor information provided and was told the no refunds stands. I now have 2 days of entry and no ability for the kids to snowboard.
The snowboarding is advertised as being for children of many ages, after seeing the area today I would not recommended it for any child over the age of 5! I also would not recommend as the children are not permitted to practice what they learnt at their lesson. A huge waste of money.

We drove for 2 and a half hours and paid $50 park entry only to find a tiny crowded toboggan run and a small snow play area full of people ignoring the 'no tobogganing' signs.
Despite signs all over the café advising people they could only eat food purchased on the premises the café was crowded with people eating picnics. There were also large tables taken up with people's bags where people had left them while going elsewhere. The 2-queue system was confusing and disorganised and there really needs to be staff monitoring the seating situation. A separate area for people to picnic and leave bags is desperately needed. We won't be returning.

Absolutely terrible. Spent 30 minutes waiting in line in the car, just to get in to the carpark. They made us park in the second carpark because the top carpark was "full" and then wait about 45 minutes for a shuttle bus. As we drove through the top carpark it was only half full.
Then we got to the top and there was one toboggan run with a 30 minute line and more people than snow. There was a kids ski lesson area and another "out of bounds" massive area that had about 5 people on them, while in the rest of the area there was less than half a square meter per person. First time my kids had seen snow and they were so excited, but they absolutely hated the crowd and couldn't enjoy the snow. On top of that, some of the staff were a bit rude to people as well.
We went on one toboggan ride (which was average) and then left after "trying" to have fun for 30 minutes before leaving.
We actually hung around in the carpark for 2 hours playing in the snow there and had lots of fun because there was noone else there.

We had a fantastic time on our recent trip to lake mountain. Our guide/driver Maj was not only a great driver, getting us safely to the mountain and back but a wealth of knowledge. She spoke about the area and you could tell that she loves her work. Very informative. The stops were great. Stevensons falls was breathtaking. Worth the short walk. We would recommend this trip especially after visiting the chocolate shop in Yarra Glen.

We went for a one day snow trip and we got to experience some snow showers. There were a lot of beautiful fresh snow. Great fun for the children and whole family. We did some tobogganing and exploring the beautiful surrounding. We were having so much fun and will definitely come back in the future.

Visited in January, so not in season. , which made easy parking. Beautiful day but limited views of the scenery. A very basic cafe where we could get a coffee and snack. Best to go when the season is in and enjoy the snow. Seems there are a number of activities available in season, but very quiet in January,

Even though it's January, I wanted to visit Lake Mountain essentially for the drive. It was beautiful. Very few cars were on the road - fellow vehicles were mostly motorbike riders, road cyclists and some mountain bikers (all way fitter than me obviously). Lovely hilly windy road, which I love, and some nice little lookouts to stop at on the way. Some beautiful wildflowers out at the moment which made for some cute little photo opps.
