We rode from Tallarook to Mansfield over 2 days. The first night we stayed at the Tallarook Hotel then set off the next morning along the beautiful Goulburn River toward Yea. We arrived in Molesworth where we stayed the night at the Hungry Horse Hotel after completing approx 60kms of cycling. Day 2 we continued and stopped at Yark for... More

Let’s make it quite clear: this is not an easy ride. The track is ALL gravel, ranging in size from 2cm to more like sand. It isn’t quite like the photos, being loose in many parts rather than hard-packed as promoted. Leaves, twigs, sticks and branches litter the trail. It is MUCH harder that the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail.... More

We had lots of fun exploring this Rail Trail from Mansfield to Tallarook over 3 days. We hired electric mountain bikes at Allterrrain Cycles in Mansfield. The bikes were well suited to the gravel trail with huge fat tyres and excellent suspension. We could have done with softer seats so remember your padded bike pants! The batteries and recharging worked... More

The rail trail is very family friendly and we love the toilet stop and places to just stop and rest along the way.

This is a skilfully designed trail with the rider in mind. Smooth surface and a wide track make for easy riding. Plenty of rest stops in the towns or at covered picnic tables, and well designed gates and road crossings that barely slow you down. I also liked the distance markers every kilometer that serve as rescue locators. The surrounding... More

We were able to do a small section of the Great Victorian Rail Trail on foot in December as part of our drive around Australia and it was lovely. The longest riding trail in Australia, if we had more time and been better prepared we would have arranged to bike the whole thing but could only cram in so much... More

We rode the trail from Tallarook to Mansfield and return, and enjoyed every minute! Fabulous country, wallabies early morning, an echidna and so many birds, wonderful. Some trying times on thick gravel and great downhill glides!
