We were fortunate to come across High Country Scenic Tours through our timeshare accommodation in Mansfield where we were staying for one week.
A high country tour was advertised for Monday and a Lake Eildon - Delatite Valley tour was advertised for Tuesday. When reading through the description of the tours, we decided to do both as each one included visiting a site which was in the famous Australian movie "The Man From Snowy River", one of my all time favourite movies!
The High Country tour was absolutely spectacular from incredible views from Mt Sterling summit, to the natural beauty of Bindaree Falls, to visiting the iconic Craig's Hut from The Man From Snowy River.
Our guide/driver, Brian was a lovely man, and his passion for the high country and love of 4WDriving made our tour so much more fun, exciting and memorable.
Top all that off with delicious home made scones, Anzac biscuits and rock cakes for morning tea and fresh sourdough sandwiches for lunch, it was a day I will never forget!!
During the day, Brian received a phone call saying the other couple who were to go on Tuesday's tour with us were cancelling due to illness. We thought the tour would be cancelled completely as the tour required minimum 4 people to go ahead. Being the very caring person Brian is, he said he would honour our tour booking and still take us on our own! A truly generous gesture!
This tour included more stunning views from Powerlines Lookout and The Paps and a visit to the site where the iconic "jump" was filmed for The Man From Snowy River. Oh and mustn't forget another yummy morning tea on offer!
Brian, we cannot thank you enough for your generosity and for the amazing time we had on both tours.
I would HIGHLY recommend both these tours if you are ever anywhere near Mansfield or the high country!

We had a fantastic day in and around Mt Stirling. Brian was a wonderful host who kept us interested with an array of information regarding the sites as we passed them, and even managed to keep our group with 2 teenagers engaged. He ensured our vegetarian daughter had a lunch that she described as "best ever" and "delicious". Brian was very informative telling us something new at everyplace we stopped at and never rushed us from one place to the other. He read the group so well, and worked out how long to stay at each place. It was an awesome trip and our family would do it again.

We loved the 4WD experience in the Victorian High Country & seeing Craigs Hut & Bindaree Falls. We wouldn’t have been able to take our car there ourselves let alone navigate the tracks. Brian was a very competent & safe driver with an in depth knowledge of the area - highly recommend this tour if you can only manage a day tour - oh & the home made rock cakes, pudding, Anzac biscuits & sandwiches was a great touch - thanks Brian

Brian and his son James provided our group of 12 with an amazing day out! Our group comprised of 9 adults with the intellectual disabilities and 3 support workers. For most of our group it was the first time we had experienced an off road four wheel drive adventure. Brian and his team are experienced and skilled drivers with so much knowledge of the area. We did river crossings, stopped at a beautiful spot by the King River for home made morning tea (best Anzac biscuits & rock cakes) got to see & experience Craig’s Hut and finished our day back at their property for lunch with million dollar views! Can’t recommend High Country Tours any more highly! It’s a must do day out if staying in the region.

We decided that this was probably the best way to see the High Country with an experienced driver and we were not disappointed. Brian's knowledge of the area was amazing and his driving capabilities made for a very safe and enjoyable day. He also went above and beyond when I realized I had left something in the vehicle and he arranged to meet us in town to deliver it. Overall an experience we will always remember, Well worth the cost.

Brian delivered an authentic, knowledgeable and awe inspiring 4 wheel drive experience over rugged terrain. Stunning mountain ranges, a short walk to Bindaree Falls, together with a visit to Craig's Hut from the movie "The Man From Snowy River" provided plenty of amazing photo opportunities. Lunch at Razorback Hut with tasty home made Anzac Biscuits/Rock Cakes and hearty sandwiches all part of a genuine Aussie experience made possible through Brian's passion for the region.
Thank you Brian.

There is no better way to experience the magnificence of Mt Timbertop than this.
The Victorian High Country has roads, views and vibrant uniquely Australian greenery that are only fully trekked and experienced when travelling alongside an expert who has dedicated their life to adventure and the outdoors.
The trip preserves a nostalgic down to earth simplicity than any bushbashing Australian can appreciate with a childlike type of joy.
This trip is NOT one that is complex or saturated with a constant bombardment of commercial cookie cutter activities, it is rather a comfortably paced adventure and a very personal experience that can be enjoyed by all ages.
The exciting, rough terrain of the Mountainside is skilfully navigated by the capable and safe driver and the stops that are made are exceptionally beautiful.
Our tour was during the summer, where we witnessed cascades of little yellow flowers surrounded by bright lush greenery that was painted upon all the fields and roadsides we came across.
It would honestly be a shame living your whole life never having experienced the tranquility and thrill of exploring such a phenomenal location in such a fun, interesting and uniquely Australian way.

We were lucky enough to have snow at Craigs Hut when we did this tour. That was definitely the highlight. The drive was a bit hairy in places but Brian (our driver) handled all the challenges with capable confidence and to top it off he makes great rock cakes! We thoroughly enjoyed the day visiting the high country. Brian gave us the opportunity to see this famous area which is something we would never be able to otherwise. Thanks Brian.

We had a great day out with Brian. He is a very friendly and informative tour guide. The tour was fantastic! We loved Mt Stirling, visiting Craig's Hut, and the experience of being in a four-wheel drive. Even the bumpy narrow tracks were fun!
We also loved our morning tea (very yummy homemade cakes and tea) and our delicious freshly made sandwiches on sourdough bread for lunch.
It was a great day out.
I would highly recommend you take this tour if you want an authentic ''Man from Snowy River' experience!

We loved our day with Steve touring the Victorian high country! Steve’s local knowledge and stories were fantastic, and his vehicle was extremely comfortable as we navigated the 4WD roads and tracks. Our home made morning tea and lunch was delicious too. Highly recommend!
