Worth Visiting.

Lovely little village that's well worth visiting either on its own or as part of the steam train trip. Nice places to eat, or just a pleasant place to stroll around.

Definitely worth taking a step back in time. Maldon was declared Australia's First Notable Town in 1966 by the National Trust. The country side looks great at the moment nice and green, easy drive to get there.

What a quaint little town. We stopped into this town on our way back to Melbourne from Bendigo and what a pleasant surprise. Loved waking down the main street featuring many old signs on the well preserved buildings. There also were a number of vintage cars on this day so it really was a sense of stepping back in time.... This quaint little town is steeped in history. There are many cafes and eateries along the way. Built on a hill but not too steep. Pubs tourist informs centre a supermarket and a huge antique shop.

This is not a large street but an interesting one and has a few restaurants/bars/pubs, antique stores, a lolly shop as well as bars and restaurants. I love looking at these old well maintained buildings from yesteryear.

We caught the train from Castlemaine to Maldon. Had lunch and a wander around the street. It's simply stunning with the old buildings everywhere. It's like a step back in time. Stunning.

I have been lucky enough to visit, stay and experience this beautiful town on many occasions over the years and it just gets better every time. So much to see, experience and take in. The food is sensational, the coffee and cake great too, and some many shops to explore. We parked our partners at the local hotel while we... More

Maldon, located in the central Victorian Goldfields region is a wonderful day trip from Melbourne. For caffeine lovers there are several establishments to cater to your taste. The old "lolly shop" reminds one of their childhood. A five minute walk from the Main Street you can get on the steam train for a journey to Castlemaine. The old style architecture... More

You just need you legs because a walk cost you nothing. A beautiful old town. Great shops, cafes and restaurants to stop and have a look and something to eat

Maldon has won awards for its dedication to preserving so much of its 19th Century buildings. The town compliments this with a very up-to-date walking tour guide. We spent a very enjoyable 2 hours learning, looking and remembering.
