About
Four Pillars Gin launched in 2013 and has since gone on to win an array of awards at home and around the globe. Our home in Healesville is where we make and experiment with gin, and where you have the option of trying and learning about gin in several different formats. Come and do a neat gin tasting or sip on a G&T paddle at your table, while taking in our German sister-stills Wilma, Jude, Beth and Coral. You’ll find any of our current and limited release bottles, you can experience one of our various masterclasses or just come and soak in our hospitality space while enjoying one of the gin cocktails from our frequently changing menu. Plus we have a number of delicious snacks made with our Made From Gin range. Find out more about which masterclasses and various other experiences are available via our website. We are currently undergoing a significant expansion to be approximately double the size, looking to open our new space in April 2022.

    Gin heaven!
Visited here with our Aussie relatives as it's one of their favourite days out. We were not disappointed at this new venue. Gin flights were superb - offering 4 different gins and mixers, Staff were both friendly and knowledgeable. This place gets very busy so you may need to queue if you have not already booked but it's well worth the wait.
Thank you all for coming out to visit us. We are always so happy when friends and family from abroad come to the distillery as part of their trip to Australia. So pleased that the team all took such great care of you and that you were able to enjoy one of our gin flights, hopefully, you came away with a new favourite! We hope you can visit us again if you are ever in the Yarra Valley. Cheers FP Team

Cool Gin tasting 😋, Lincoln was so informative and patient with us. Highly recommend you stop in for either a paddle tasting or just a nice gin in a really relaxed place. We'll be back

    Best gin distillery I've visited
The tasting experience was more than we expected. For $15 we got 5 tastings, a thorough explanation of the flavoured ingredients and the whole distilling process. Laura was an excellent host and a wealth of knowledge. And the gin - well the flavours were amazing. I highly recommend this place and the food next door. I hope you get Laura.
Thank you so very much, Lisa. We're so pleased to hear that you had a wonderful experience at the distillery and that Laura took such great care of you. Also that you enjoyed the gin so much! We hope you can stop in to visit again, soon! Love, the Four Pillars crew.

    Gin Heaven
The Distillery has recently been renovated and it is outstanding, if you like gin, this place is heaven. The staff discuss what you are drinking and make recommendations, very helpful. It is a busy place with people coming and going, dropping in for a drink and/or eating. We drank their limited edition rhubarb and lemon gin which is amazing. If you are visiting wineries it is well worth the trip up the road to Healesville to Four Pillars!

    Great gin tasting
Had a great visit. Did the gin tasting. Liz (our tasting guide) was fantastic- wonderful personality and extremely knowledgeable. Great trying 5 of their different gins. They have a much bigger range than what is available in retail stores. Bought a nice bottle of Navy strength. Cafe looked very nice - have to try it next time
Thank you so much for coming out to visit us, John! We're so pleased to hear you had a fantastic time and that the team took such great care of you. We hope it's not too long before you can come out to visit again. Enjoy your Navy Strength Gin! We hope it makes some delicious drinks.

Great way to spend an afternoon
We’ve wanted to come here for so long and we weren’t disappointed. The staff are so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Special shout-out to Laura who was really attentive and gave great recommendations. We had the tasting paddles, as well as delicious beetroot dip, croquettes and roasted nuts. Will definitely be back!
Thank you so much for making the trip out to us in Healesville. We're so happy to hear you had a wonderful time and that the team and Laura took great care of you. We'll be sure to pass on your lovely feedback to her. We look forward to your next visit!

A well organized place to provide you lots of knowledge about Gins. You can have Gins taste here by professional introduction here. Lots of visitors come here not for taste but for dining. Just pick up what you want and enjoy yourself before heading to next destination. Enjoy.
Thank you so much for joining us for the tour! We're so pleased you had a wonderful time and the team took such great care of you! We hope it's not too long before you can visit again!

A Visit and Master class is a must.
We were given the master class to attend and it was excellent. Gin Lizzy gave 20 of us a run through of gin history and making and then it was into the gin tasting (have to go to know how to savour gin on the palate). The gin was lovely. Amazing the differences in the tastes. We were given a goodie bag at the end with a bottle of gin, some tonic and some marmalade made from waste from the gin production. A most sustainable distillery with very clever systems in place to minimise waste and preserve water and power. We then headed to the shop and bar. We were given a voucher for $25 off purchases in our show bag. They stored our purchases for us to collect later and we then enjoyed a cocktail and snacks in the restaurant. Great day and very special. All staff were fantastic. Great place to go.
You had Lizzie! They're an absolute blast and we're so lucky to have them. Thanks so much for spending some of your day out with us, it sounds like you had a wonderful time. An additional thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We hope it's not too long before you can visit again!

I went just after they had opened after lockdown, we had booked for a drink for 2:30 then the gin tasting at 3. When we arrived we had to wait in line for 20 minutes, by the time we got in it was 2:50, we were given menus and told to ‘order quickly’ after rushing and getting our drink at 2:55 we were told to quickly drink it so we wouldn’t miss out gin tasting. I asked if we could take it with us and I was told no. Disappointed that although I had a booking, my time there was reduced to 10 minutes. I’d spent $50 on 2 cocktails only to be have to drank in under 5 minutes and rushed. The gin tasting itself was great, the 2 employees were very knowledgeable, funny and engaging. I understand with restrictions it’s hard but I’d rather of been offered a chance to have my booking after the gin tasting rather than it be rushed but they be happy to take my money without letting me know I’d have 5 minutes to drink my cocktail.

Hi there Maddie. Firstly, I would like to apologise that it has taken us so long to get back to you here on TripAdvisor, we're just been getting all our ducks in a row with the aftermath of a crazy year, resulting in our reviews being a little neglected. And secondly, I would also like to sincerely apologise for your experience with us at the distillery back in October. Although hospitality was only just recovering from the lockdown, we fell well short of the standards we set ourselves on that occasion. We are sorry your experience wasn’t remotely close to what you (or we) expect. If you would like to chat about it a little further, you are very welcome to send through an email to lily@fourpillarsgin.com.au Kindest, Lily

Over the weekend we’d heard about a local gin distillery being named as International Gin Producer of the Year at the worlds largest spirits competition in London in November. So with my expert, gin drinking sister with us from the UK we decided to pay it a visit.

Four Pillars is on the outskirts of Healesville, a small town about an hours drive from Melbourne.

It’s a distillery come gin bar and serves coffee, soft drinks and beers as well as gin so everyone can be taken care of.

From the minute we walked in the service was first class. The young lady who welcomed us explained what our various options were and then showed us to a table. Not only was she helpful her knowledge of the of the gins on offer was incredible.

There is a wide variety of gins to buy and take home. We ordered our drinks but only my sister had a gin and bought a bottle of Bloody Shiraz Gin to take home to the UK.

We were only there for 45 mins to have a look but you could easily spend a lazy afternoon sipping beautiful gins and gin based cocktails. However, make sure you have a designated driver because once you get settled in you could be there for a while.

Stopped by to visit 'Four Pillars Distillery' and had the $15.00 tasting with (4) samples of different Gins. Look, it was a lovely experience, but for those who would wish to 'pair' the experience with a 'bite to eat' afterwards, I think they should have a 'Side Restaurant' or 'Cafe', where people (intoxicated with the 'Royal Navy 53%' Gin), can just sit to order some food. Simple 'Arancini Balls' for example, and some light food selections, would make this experience 'Excellent'.
I think it is a great 'Business Idea' for 'Four Pillars' to include my idea of a 'Side Cafe'
As an Event Manager, some 'Live Entertainment' would be just fantastic as well.
Overall a great start to a good experience.
*Not sure about the $10.00 rebate off, if you purchase a bottle of Gin at the end of your tasting, I can get the same brand Gin for slightly lower price anyway.

Hey Mel, Thank you for your review, and for taking the time to come visit us at the distillery! We wholeheartedly agree with your idea of having a little more selection of food, hence most weekends we have a food truck out the front to supply just that! Apologies if that option wasn't present the day that you visited. We also like to keep our focus on what we do best as a gin producer, and leave the food with the many sensational restaurants in the Yarra Valley, who we support! In regards to the retail price of our gin, unfortunately, it is the business model of large retailers such as Dan Murphys who have the lowest price guarantee, that drives down the cost of goods. This is something completely out of our control, and can also be quite damaging to the industry. By all means, take advantage of Dan’s crazy pricing. Those are some sensational gins they are selling for the same price as some pretty generic international commercial gins. However, it's always nice to keep in mind that buying directly from us helps us to keep doing what we’re doing, experimenting with gin and keeping our Healesville team in work during these strange times.  If you would like to chat any further on these topics, you are very welcome to send me through an email to lily@fourpillarsgin.com.au We hope to see you again soon, Kindest, Lily from FPG

Four Pillars charge $10 per person for tasting which seemed expensive but well worth it. You received half an hour of an experience learning a lot about gin. Elton our host was awesome and very informative and entertaining. When you buy a bottle you receive your $10 back, although the bottles are $85-90 each.

If you’re a gin fan then a visit to Four Pillars is a must. We went early to miss the crowds and did a regular tasting. It was a fantastic introduction about the botanicals that create the different flavours without being too “schooly”. The ambiance is super cool and the stills so sexy with the copper curves. And if your buy a bottle (there was no pressure to) your $10 tasting fee comes off the price. Top marks on their recycling ethics!!

Having not visited since Covid, it was time to set sail and experience the new and improved Four Pillars Distillery. And we weren't disappointed. Arriving mid arvo, we had no booking, but were warmly greeted at the door and found a table within five minutes. The interior is warm and welcoming, with staff ready to help you immediately. Whilst prices of wines, gins and cocktails are not at the cheap end, the number and responsiveness of staff is sensational. Gin Paddle (4 small tasting glasses of Gin) arrived within minutes of ordering, whilst the Cheese board and Marmalade glazed cashews and macadamias were in front of us within 10 minutes.

Sittings are set at approximately 90 minutes, which is more than enough time as you can always browse other areas of the Distillery and purchase a huge range of Gins in their store.

Four Pillars is a place you can visit again and again as the variety of food and drinks is extensive.

Will certainly return again, hopefully sooner than last time!

What a perfect gem of a place. We visited midweek at around 11 am and by the time we left it was pretty full up. We elected to sample a paddle of three of their gins. They arrived on a wooden paddle, three small glasses with a Mediterranean tonic bottle on the side so that we could add what we wanted. Lovely gins, my favourite was the orange and ginger infused one. We also ordered a cheese board, one large piece of cheese with a gin infused marmalade and crackers. The coffee was great too. We sat outside under a canopy with fruit trees and creepers adorning the fence. A perfect setting. We will go again.

My husband and I dropped in to have a drink and relax in this great place. We have visited several times and the service and the gin is of a very high standard. It must be a great place to work as the staff are always very happy which contributes to a nice atmosphere.
I had a taste of the olive gin and I must say it is my new favourite. Absolutely loved it. My husband had the shiraz gin which he always enjoys.
The interior has been decked out for Christmas and looks great. I purchased a pudding and gin to take home. The pudding was $25 but don't get too excited as it will only serve two but I still can't wait to taste it.
Congratulations on the worlds best gin again this year. Keep up the good work and see you soon.

Tastings of Gin, botanical educations, books, merchandise, drinks, comfort. This distillery is such a wonderful setup. Makes for a wonderful break from wine tasting all day. Distilleries around Australia should look at this one as a benchmark.
