Cons/tips - Disappointed that the toilets were locked on the walk there and back. Also come prepared to get your shoes off to walk through the icy water stream at the base of the steps. A friend tried crossing the slippery black rocks and had a nasty fall. The stairs were hard going on my unfit muscles so do take a pole to support you if you have any difficulty with leg strength.

Pros - lovely views, not crowded, wallabies, easy drive, parking and picnic area :)

My wife and I parked our car at the Cape Schanck car park and walked to this place. There are more parking bays here than on the Boneo Road car park. Also, it is a more scenic walk along the coast.

The hiking trail is almost 6 km for a return trip and takes a reasonable level of fitness to complete. This is why there are not many reviews for this place.

It is a beautiful place to visit. The autumn weather was perfect for this walk.

Bushrangers Bay has a beautiful beach accessed during low tide. The long walk from the roadside carpark is rugged in places but it rewards with beautiful views. Trek through the wilderness is exciting and we were able to see groups of Kangaroos feeding at some spots. The rock outcrops at the bay have the distinct signs of ancient volcanic lava flow and eroded faces are worthy of seeing. It was a beautiful place and we were well rewarded.

Stopped at the beach on our hike from Dromana to Cape Schank (called The Two Bays Walking Track which is 28km long). Few steps down to get to the beach but well worth it. Don't try and swim in the ocean as it's too dangerous but swimming in the rock pools further down the beach is awesome. Just make sure you check the tides because at high tide you can't swim in the rock pools, that would be extremely dangerous. And if you are going for a visit, please take any rubbish back with you.

Beautiful 3km walk from Cape Schanck, through the Reserve, to here. There is a beautiful rock which is climbable.

If you’re looking for a good picnic spot at the beach with epic views, you should add Bushrangers Bay to the list. You will find this gem along the Bushrangers Bay Walking Trail, which is an easy to moderate 3km track with a few steep steps along the way (approximately 2 hours return). What I liked most about this beach was its peacefulness (despite being there on a Saturday on a moderately hot day). Because the area is so large, everyone is quite spread out, giving you an intimate picnic experience. Make your way to the Cape Schanck carpark and from there, you will find the entrance to the Bushrangers Bay Walking track to the left of the toilets. Cost is absolutely free.

Beautiful scenery watch out for snakes on the track. This is a beautiful beach but not safe for swimming and you are far from any help.

Just a nice good walk
Not a huge amount of virgin bush
But national Parks have planted 10s 1000s trees and coming back great
Dont swim too dangerous
Best at low tide as amazing rocks and pools

Firstly, don't attempt the walk unless you have a modicum of fitness. Though the path is well laid out there are a number of stairs. It's great in the colder months or hotter months. We went on a particularly stinking hot day and my wife got heatstroke - though that's not the fault of the Bay nor track. A beautiful beach and rock-pool area with grand sweeping and commanding views await all who take this track to see the bay. Make sure you take the track from the carpark rather than Boneo road though - the views are worth it. And remember - there are no bin nor bathroom facilities once you leave the carpark, so take everything back with you.

We spent 10 days on the Mornington Peninsula at Rye which is a lovely sot on the beach Port Phillip Bay side and only 3 kms from ocean beach as well.
There are many walks in the area such as the Point Nepean which takes you from the Quarantine Station past the Harold Holt Memorial to the Heads but the gem is Bushrangers Bay. The colors are all Australian with reds, greens, yellows and browns- the water is crystal clear and offers surfers a wave and the boardwalk is very scenic. Is worth a visit.
