Fly net needed!
Nov 2019 • Couples
Lovely walk through changing vegetation. Flat, sandy and picturesque. Thank goodness I had my fly net otherwise I would have gone insane!

amazing

Some people say that 4WD is the only way too see Little Desert but I disagree. Spending a couple of days walking around the park is amazing. Best done in spring when the weather is mild and the wildflowers are blooming.
TIP: do your research and remember it’s quite remote in areas due to it being inaccessible by car.
TIP: start from Kiata Campground or Horsehoe Bend campground. Halfway in is either the Yellow Gum camp or Mallee Walkers Camp

Great Walking Trails
Oct 2017 • Couples
Unfortunately we only walked a few short sections of the Little Desert Discovery Walk as our knees do not allow us to do long walks these days.
We crossed paths with the discovery walk while out with our 4WD. The walking trails seem to run parallel to the road tracks. The roads are very sandy which would make walking along them for any distance really hard going. The discovery tracks are much more firm and easier to walk and take in the same sight as we saw with the 4WD.
We were camping at Kiata Campground and a couple of guys came and camped the night. They had just completed a 2 day walk across from Horseshoe Bend. They told us had gone down to the Salt Lake and had seen so much bird and animal life. They even had emus come right up to them while eating their lunch.
