You do not need to be sporty or very fit. It will help if you are at least a little active as the course will test out your strength, agility and stamina. You will use muscles (particularly your arms) that you did not think you had and will probably be sore the next day.
I am not a very sporty person and I completed the blue and red courses. I did see one person quit half way through the black course.
If you do have a go start with the short blue course first as this will give you a taste and you will be able to see what it is like.
