There is a spelling error for the title of this thread, by the first reviewer. It should be Anglesea Garden. The name of the town is Anglesea and this garden is located next to the Visitor Centre.

It is not much of a Garden as there is not much to see. The playground is nice for kids.

Nestled between the Western Mouth of the Anglesea River and the Anglesea Surf Beach is this fantastic playground which has been wonderfully created with the assistance of various Community Groups & Organisations.

Whilst there is not an abundance of street signs per se, this recreation area is easy to pinpoint due to its proximity to the riverbank and its prime location right on the main bend in the Great Ocean Road as you leave Anglesea and head towards Lorne.

[ Swings & Other Cool Things ]:
There are swings & slides, a miniature rock climbing area and giant marine animals built into the sand. Named pictures of various birds have been cleverly inserted into the footpaths with the concrete marked with tiny little impressions that appear to be examples of the exact footprint each bird would leave. I think that this is an absolutely brilliant way to inform visitors about the local wildlife & I had fun trying to find them all.

Access for those whom may be in need of a wheelchair or mobility aid has been provided & the boardwalks & paths appeared well maintained. A water pump provides drinking water for free and an outdoor shower accompanies the public conveniences situated within the adjacent lot.

As you enjoy a leisurely stroll you can see how many different groups were involved in the landscaping by means of plaques bearing their names such as Angair & Anglesea Primary School.

[ Down By The Sea.....Saw Much Birdlife, but no Watermelons ]:
As mention at the outset, there is a double delight to be found here at the Angel Sea Garden in that you can opt to enjoy the pleasures over at the main Surf Beach or follow the paths alongside for scenic views from the riverbank.

At the time of my visit the tide was out enabling me to walk along the riverbed itself in the direction of the Ocean & if not for a sandbank one could basically walk up to the waters edge, being what appears to be Bass Strait. Caution is required of course & all appropriate safety issues should be considered prior to your visit.

[Summary]:
Yet again I find myself overwhelmed by the fantastic efforts of all involved in the creation of this beautiful spot. Definitely family orientated there seems to be something here for everyone. From kayaking or paddle boards up the river, to surfing around the corner at the beach or just taking a mosey to inspect the garden the overall experience is very relaxing. Oh and of course don't forget to have a go on the swings & things making sure to keep an eye out for the giant Shark or Octopus!

Just one [1] minutes drive from the Anglesea Information Centre heading in the direction from Melbourne to Lorne a stop here is certainly worth adding to your itinerary. You may even decide to pack a picnic lunch along with your cricket set, frisbee or kite for there is ample grassland upon which to roam. My family wishes you all a wonderful time!
