Lots of walking tracks around the headland and rocks and a good patrolled beach, this is an all seasons beach with plenty of options for all.

Great - fairly quiet spot for a picnic or swim, but in terms of scenery or big waves, or watching surfing... not much here.
More of a quiet of the track get away beach.

Pt. Roadknight is a lovely sheltered beach and when the tide is out its one of the best beaches in Victoria for children with lots of shallow water to splash is and rock pools to explore.
There are clean toilets and plenty of BBQ's and tables.
In summer the small cafe is open selling drinks, ice creams, coffee and snacks.
Due to its popularity parking can be a problem on peak days.

Each time we drove past the signpost I would think to myself, "What a thoroughly odd name yet never had time to make a detour to check it out. Finally curiosity got the better of me so during my latest trip up from Melbourne I made time to follow the directions leading to Point Roadknight to see what I could find.
As I drove through this small suburb I noticed how the many beachside homes were reminiscent of the 50's through 70's & I started to remember my own families trips to the sea side.
[ Oh I Wish I had a Kombi Van, Then "Getting There Really Would Be Half the Fun"]:
Heading down Eighth Avenue I arrived at a roundabout leading to two car parks both of which provide easy access to the beach. Turning left into Melba Parade I drove on past the Kiosk before following a thin, sandy walking track that lead through the trees & brush to arrive upon the beach.
I must admit that what I saw I hadn't expected. Much broader than anticipated the shoreline sweeps around in a half circle. To the left a cliff face with houses upon the top, large rocks & a little further down the Anglesea Motor Yacht Club.
= People were fishing at the time & I have since learned that this is quite a favourite place for anglers. A fish cleaning station, along with a fishing line disposal bin are installed here to help protect the precious marine wildlife so please ensure to utilise them.
To the right a narrow ridge of calcarenite reef dominates the view & affords considerable protection to the beach. Beyond this the shoreline continues through to Urquhart Bluff. The beach here is known to be home to rocks & rips & is only patrolled by Surf Life Saving at specific times of the year so please ensure to check out all applicable websites & news reports in regards all safety aspects prior to your visit.
[ Home to a threatened beach-nesting shorebird so strictly NO dogs allowed ]:
The Hooded Plover is a nesting shore bird that has one of the lowest survival rates from egg to adult of any species so with 'the point' being one of their breeding zones there is a NO dogs allowed regulation strictly imposed to ensure the birds important habitat is protected.
Substantial & ongoing revegetation & conservation efforts by the local council & environmental volunteers have restored much of the native vegetation & habitat to the area and its sand dunes helping to make it a perfect place to relax & enjoy a picnic.
[Summary]:
In conclusion Point Roadknight is referred to by many as "one of the safest beaches in Anglesea" helping to make it both a popular destination for families with young children & those learning to surf.
So pack an Esky, your Speedos some sunscreen & hat then enjoy yet another one of this sunburnt country's amazing natural wonders. Thank you for reading this review we hope that it has been helpful.
PS: Public toilets with change facilities & amenities for people with a disability are available nearby along with water fountains & picnic tables.

Cracking spot to bring a family.
Gentle surf, good fishing. rock rambling or just a nice beach walk.
Local paramedics had same idea as me. Park car, sit, eat lunch and enjoy the beauty.

This is a family beach where young and old can swim and laze in the sun in a pleasant, not so crowded, relaxed atmosphere. There is a handy kiosk, and the beach is patrolled all through summer.

I walked the track from Anglesea to Point Roadknight. It was a very pleasant walk and the Point itself is amazing with its incredible cliffs and rock formations. Loved it.

The beach at Point Roadknight looks quite good for families. But we were there just to walk to the end of the Point and take in the interesting views. There is nothing as dramatic as the scenery further along the Great Ocean Road but there are still many interesting features. At the end of the Point, there was a small colony of Hooded Plover birds - these are protected - no dogs are allowed on the beach. We were able to observe from a distance and take some beautiful photos.

A great family beach, but not for those looking for the big surf. Stay to the right of the boat ramp for swimming. The left of the boat ramp is a nice walk but the cliffs are unstable so don’t get too close. Nice coffee at the cafe, which is outdoors and shaded. Fantastic for young families.
