About
The Split Point Lighthouse is a must-see attraction and stands as a stunning sentinel on the Shipwreck Coast. Take a trip through maritime history and be amazed by this wild and dangerous coastline where hundreds of ships have crashed. It is still a vital working lighthouse for vessels navigating the treacherous waters of Bass Strait and still operates every night. Today it is famous for its role in the TV series ‘Round the Twist’ and you might spot a pod of dolphins or whales from the top balcony. The lighthouse is open daily for a visit, weather permitting. Come on in for a climb to the top and enjoy marvellous 360-degree views of this stunning coastline! A tour guide will greet you at the door. You can then make your way to the top of the lighthouse in your own time. Another tour guide will meet you at the top and answer any questions you might have.

Traveled to Aireys with my sister and Mum. We loved our morning at the lighthouse, even though extremely windy! Well priced for the time we spent there, both of the hosts at the beginning of the tour and top of the lighthouse were lovely, chatty and knowledgeable. No issues with parking - we parked at the car park about 50m from the lighthouse. Lots of nice little walking tracks from the carpark and down Eagle Rock Parade - from lands end lookout, a great view back towards Eagle Rock & the Lighthouse.

Lovely little place but very busy. You are signposted to a small car park and on one side you can clearly see "no stopping" signs. On the other side it is easy to assume you can park, given that is where the signs lead you but there is one sign that can easily be obstructed as you drive into the car park. This happened to me with a high sided vehicle parked blocking the one sign and I incurred a $192 fine which spoilt our visit and made it a very expensive stop off. When we returned in disbelief there were 5 more cars who had made the same mistake and thanked us for pointing the sign out to them. So if busy skip the visit as not worth the hassle of parking in poorly signed areas and getting a ticket - I am sure this car park is a main income stream for the council!!

Visited the lighthouse for a photo opportunity. Even though we didn’t tour the lighthouse, which only costs $10 anyway, we felt it was a must stop.
Lighthouse is stunning and has great views and photo opportunities. The foreshore is equally as stunning too!

It was the friendly and very knowledgable ladies (one stationed at the base of the light house and one at the top) who made this visit interesting and worthwhile. Besides, of course, the amazing views! Entry was very reasonably priced at $10 per person. There were 136 stairs to the top. We enjoyed learning about the history of the lighthouse.
There are some viewing platforms at the foot of the lighthouse, but the views are nowhere near as spectacular.
We turned off the Great Ocean Road onto Inlet Crescent and kept left around the lake. Then turned left onto Lighthouse Road and left again at the top where there was a large area for parking. The walk from the car park along Federal Street to the lighthouse is reasonably level. En route is the Lighthouse Tearoom.

Avoid it like the plague. We popped in to see the lighthouse & were parked for 30mins along with numerous other vehicles. Upon returning we had a parking ticket, $165 !!!! So did all the other vehicles. Signage was atrocious, parking warden must have been hiding in the bushes.
I made lunch & other vehicles pulled up & were there for 1.5hrs before I left & they did not receive tickets.
I felt sorry for the young female backpackers in tears.
It's only another lighthouse, do not play into their hands, avoid it or park miles away and walk up to it, quite disgusted with surf coast shire council, will not be coming back.
Strongly do not recommend.

Hi suveran1, we at Splitpoint Lighthouse are really sorry to hear about your poor experience and that you received a parking ticket. However, as you have stated, this is an issue with the Surf Coast Shire and we encourage you to take it up with them for clearer signage. We have been in contact with the Surf Coast Shire multiple times over the years voicing our concerns, as reviews like yours reflect poorly and impact upon our business even though it isn't in our control. We are certainly not the ones handing out the parking tickets! Just like out the front of your house, you don't get any choice or say in who can and can't park there or if it is sign posted or not. Our guides do the best they can to alert the general public about parking ie. there are two disabled spots directly out the front of the lighthouse and we constantly warn people that inspectors are about very regularly in busy times. It saddens us that so many people receive parking tickets and have a poor experience. It is also sad that we are blamed and given the bad review when it should be directed at those who hand out the tickets. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to get in contact with us 5263 1133

Out of all the lighthouses I visited in 2019, Split Point Lighthouse was in the top 10. It's super accessible, presuming you got there by car or bus or are a local. If neither condition applies, I suppose it wouldn't be accessible at all. And getting up the lighthouse would, of course, be anything but ADA accessible. But, what I mean is that it's easy to get to the lighthouse from the parking lot and there are plenty of lovely paths and shops nearby. The lighthouse and point are a great place to stop when passing through the area.

We’ve been coming here for years with our children, due to the TV series Round the Twist. It’s never been open during all of our visits, so it was a lovely surprise to see it open yesterday. Our creaky knees won’t allow us to climb all those stairs now (we’ll leave that to our children), but we did enjoy spending time on the lookouts at ground level. Visit The Lighthouse Cafe on the way back down to the car park, a lovely way to end your lighthouse visit.

Coastal stroll (with BIG hill!) to the lighthouse, where we stopped off at the cafe for life-changing toasties and coffee.
Highly recommend wearing shoes over thongs. Track was quite uneven and the gravel and dust was a little annoying.
Lovely way to spend the morning! Beautiful views.

We did not pay to go inside so therefore did not have the views from the top, but the views were nice enough just from the ground. Pretty little lighthouse on a beautiful part of the coast. Nice walks nearby and a great protected beach to visit.

Time to push further South. Firstly visiting Airley’s Inlet, where we stopped at the Eagle Rock lookout and visited the Split Point Lighthouse. This actually turned out to be very good and we spent quite some time looking around.
