I love this place. Hardly ever see a wave break. Heaps and heaps of fish. Great spot for snorkelling and to learn to dive. If you're lucky you might even catch a glimpse of a shark

Shelley Beach is great beach for kids as is sheltered. Along path where rocks are is great for snorkelling as coral & fish are plentiful. Boathouse restaurant is nearby & another cafe further up path.

I just love going to the beach and Shelly Beach is a smaller, more quiet beach just close to Manly. What a pity I did not swim at Shelly, I should have brought my swimwear along to enjoy it.

Is it advisable for me to go snorkelling for the first time at Shelly Beach, without an experienced guide? There's a snorkel tour but it costs close to $70 for a couple of hours. I was wondering if I could just get my own snorkel gear from Kmart, then walk down to the beach and try it out in shallow waters before moving into deeper water?
