About
We're Layne & Ricardo - We moved to San Francisco (San Pancho), Nayarit, Mexico in 2012 and opened our shop, Luna Layne, in 2014. We're both passionate about the arts & music of Mexico - and we hope to inspire others who love Mexico and its folk art, textiles, black clay, talavera & more! Our inspiration comes from the cultural aspects of a traditional Mexican home and incorporating into today's lifestyle. We search for unique hand-made items and we work with artisans to bring back old traditions. We even design our own Mexican inspired pieces. (Supporting Mexican indigenes through partnerships.)

Like it’s owners Layne and Ricardo, Luna Layne is warm and welcoming. It’s a beautifully appointed store with an eclectic collecton of exceptional artisan works from all over Mexico. Layne and Ricardo have a deep knowledge and love of the craftwork they sell. They help support the artisans who are masters of their craft in textiles, ceramics, and woodwork, amongst others. It’s a delight to walk through their store, it’s designed to yield surprising and charming discoveries at every turn. To my mind, it’s the best store of it’s kind in San Pancho, if not in the general vicinity in and around Puerto Vallarta. If you are ever in San Pancho, it is a must see.

We stopped in twice because my friend was haunted by something she saw and hadn't purchased. The owners enjoyed telling us the background of the items they stocked. Looking forward to returning home with my treasures! Will probably regret not buying more!

What a surprise to find this treasure trove on the way to the beach. I got totally engrossed exploring the beauty in this well appointed shop. Every time I stopped in -- which was every day! -- I found another charming item I had missed.

Layne and Ricardo are warm, gracious, knowledgeable host/shopkeepers. Chatting with them and the people who meander in and linger is as pleasurable as viewing the pieces they display so well. Each item was clearly chosen carefully for both the beauty of the design and the quality of the materials and workmanship.

When I return next year to San Pancho, I'll head to Luna Layne right after check-in!

Thank you for the very thoughtful review and we are very happy that you too enjoyed the people who meander into our shop. It has become a somewhat of a watering hole for visitors/day-trippers to San Pancho. We enjoy sharing our knowledge about each piece and personal experiences with finding and acquiring these one-of-a-kind pieces. Each one is very special and dear to our hearts in some way. We look forward to seeing you next year if you make it out. Cheers- Layne

So glad to find this wonderful store in San Pancho! The owners, Layne and Ricardo, have traveled throughout Mexico to find beautiful and unique handmade items for every budget and style. I especially like their textiles and ceramics. The store is enchanting and inspiring and I can't wait to visit them again soon!

While in San Pancho, as in all other small Mexican towns, we spent some time wandering through the shops catering to tourists and locals. As a tried and seasoned shopper, and a person who appreciates crafts and artistry, I was really impressed with the quality of the goods available for purchase at this small shop. The owner, who was busily packing some items for a satisfied customer, was more than happy to spend time explaining how and where the items purchased in her shop are sourced. I got the feeling that this store helps support and encourage the local economy of the area. If you are looking for unique, beautifully hand-made items, and are willing to pay a fair price for originality and craftmanship, this is a place to check out. The shop itself is located on the main street to the beach, lined with interesting and beautifully painted houses along with other small shops where the vendors (some transplanted Canadians and Americans) are friendly, helpful, and pleasant.

This lovely store has some excellent Mexican art, crafts, and textiles. The owners (Ricardo and Layne) are friendly and knowledgeable and we purchased a stunning carpet for our new home in Nuevo. We will return to see more treasures on our next visit.

I visited Luna Layne on Thursday, March 9, 2017. While looking at the lovely merchandise, I inadvertently broke the top of an artisanal item worth 1000 pesos. Hearing and seeing my distress, one of the owners, Ricardo Tallamante, came over to assure me that he understood it was an accident. I offerered to buy/and or repair the piece but he was adamant that was not necessary. He was very gracious and helpful. I appreciated the way he handled this situation. Thank you for your understanding.
