We visited today on a lovely autumnal dry day and it was lovely. Very pretty indeed. We also stayed over in the hotel with lake views. Very lucky indeed to catch the harvest moon. Well worth a visit and drive round.

Stunning location with so much to see and explore. From the visitor centre, reservoir, dam and woodland walks. Beautiful and peaceful location being and ideal place jus to get away from it all. Great cafe and.visitor centreMore

The dam was built in 1890 to flood the valley and create a reservoir to supply water to Liverpool. Worth a drive whether you want to stay in the car, walk or cycle. Stunning scenery and 11 miles round if you fancy the exercise.More

The ride round the lake is tarmac so yes fine for scooters.
