Visited this lake yesterday and as we had our own kayaks we paid a small fee at the boat hire (£20) for 4 of us to use the lake,it was worth it. Arrived late morning and left as the boat hire shut! Amazing scenery. Great fun swimming and paddling until our arms ached. Several areas to shore up and take... More

Just returned from a great day out at Lake Vyrnwy Saturday 23/07/16, first time visit for us and we will definitely return. The scenery is beautiful with plenty of walks and cycle hire from the visitor centre, and also boat hire on the lake. The bird hide was an interesting feature with a variety of birds feeding from the bird... More

We visited Lake Vyrnwy partly out of nostalgia - stayed at the hotel for our 10th wedding anniversary (1992) and wanted to see what the location was like now. Added attractions since then include well set out and marked walks (a variety of distances and difficulties, some wheelchair/pushchair accessible) plus a sculpture trail, an RSPB visitor centre, two cafes, bike... Hello Jim First of all congratulations on your 10th Wedding Anniversary! :) I'm glad you had a great day walking around Lake Vyrnwy. I have to agree the Ice-Cream is great especially in the beautiful sunshine we're having at the moment. We hope to see you again soon. More

Park by the dam. Lovely RSPB hide. Plenty of birds. Interesting Severn Trent display in English and Welsh. Go to the Vyrnwy Hotel for a drink and a beautiful view.

This wonderful location in North Wales, has a beautiful lake, set in the mountains, surrounded by a good tarmac road making it a pleasant drive. In the village are a good selection of shops and eating establishments. Taking three of the departure routes take you over mountains to Bala, again a beautiful small town with both modern and traditional shops... More

A wonderful area. Worth setting time aside for a slow drive (or walk if you have enough time and energy!) around the edge of the lake. There are plenty of places to stop and admire the views, take photographs, and enjoy the fresh air.

A nice place to relax, a big reservoir to walk or cycle round or even venture on to. There is a single track road all the way round with lovely views and at the dam end of the lake there are good places to get good and drink together Lithuania a information office and RSVP hives and viewing location.
